Yes, those mills will NEVER generate the heat required to get the lignite to bond the wood together. That's why they sell pellet binder, which I believe is nothing more than glorified corn starch. It just won't work predictably without it. Plus the investment in a hydrometer is a must as water % is critical also.

Yes, and even the big mills have similar problems, that is why some batches of pellets may not be up to par!
Other materials such as calcium carbonate sold for paper products come with an MSDS (Material Specification Data Sheet) from the manufacturer's test lab for every batch sold. I used to work foor OMYA.
Therefore we as a large consumer of wood pellets buying 3 or more tons per year should receive an MSDS for each ton we purchase! They can duplicate the sheets for each ton in a batch but then we would know the quality of what we are buying! ! !

Yes. Yes it is.
Also true. That's why automation is very important. It's much better to have an operator tell the computer what he wants the dryer output moisture to be than to try and manually control it.
