Chimney Surface temperature

I have an RSF fireplace with an Excel zero clearance chimney. I'm having problems with leaking around the storm collar. I have a solution in mind but need to know what the surface temperature of my chimney might be at the very top outside at the storm collar. Anybody know? Anybody had experience with rain leaks at the storm collar? What was your solution?

Do you have a storm collar? If so run a bead of silicone around it and reseal it. Jay, yes I do have a storm collar. A couple of attempts where made to re-seal it with silicone but failed to stop the leak.I tried using an elastomeric tape (EternaBond WEB seal) The Canadian Distributor suggested this would be ideal for the situation and after application I was sure it would work but it still leaked. The Distributor is now suggesting a coating of Dicor Elastomeric Roof Coating but now EternaBond is telling me they do not recommend Web Seal above 200F. I have conflicting oppinions and still have a leak. This is why I was wondering if anyone knew what the surface temperatures are at the top of the Excel chimney. I'm going to try and attach a pic. Thanks

I would be very surprised if the rain cap could reach 200 F. I've been up on my roof when my stove was burning and the cap was cool enough I could touch it with my bare hand.

Thanks for your input Nick. I have just had reassurances from the local distributor that would agree with what your saying. Now all I have to do is try and get rid of my leak. I know water can be a pretty insidious thing and somehow a bit is still sneaking through.
