18" with 2 passes will do just fine.
28" seams a bit much for that saw.

Actually he used too much saw.

40cc with sixteen inch bar. But he was running a Stihl...

Child's toy. Good for limbing maybe. My 361 would make that look like a butter knife.

Got any cars that need to be ripped half? >>

He clearly just flipped it. Like a brand new (30 year old) bar.

BTW, I'm running a 28" full chisel skip on my PM610 and it cuts beautifully. I see no reason why a 362 couldn't do the same. I'm not winning races with it, but it can be buried and just chug right along.

I really miss my PM610. In 1991 it caught fire in the cut three hundred yards down in the woods and set my shirt on fire. I dropped it and rolled on the ground to put the shirt out. And then stood behind a tree while the saw burned to the ground. First the gas tank and then the oil tank lit off. Finally, you will not believe how hot aluminum burns when it catches fire.

I suspect that a fuel line ruptured. Same saw that sent me to the emergency room for a bunch of stitches in my left leg but I really liked that saw. Go figure.

Bah, I'll stick with what I got.

I would think there would be issues with the oiler keeping up running a 28" bar on a 362. Obviously it worked out ok for the OP.

I started with a Homelite EZ Auto 40cc and 16" or 18" bar. It went thru anything, thanks to being geared for lower chain speed, it didn't do anything fast.

036 / 362 = very fast in stuff under 20" diameter, where you don't need to bury the nose of the bar. It doesn't have the HP to keep up speed with the nose of a 20" bar buried in the wood, tho.

064 / 066 / 660 = great HP, reasonable weight, and incredible speed with a 28" bar buried in hardwood. The guys I cut with are always amazed how fast that saw goes thru big wood.

084 = heavy, and painfully slow. Used one for a short time, but ended up returning it. I am not sure if an 880 runs a faster chain speed, but I can say now that there is something as "too big" for fun.

Went back out and didn't have a good day, let just say gravity sucks. Got the log loaded and the tried moving it to the other side of the trailer to get another on and it broke through the 2x4's and ran away from me.
You win this round log...
