Harman Accentra Problem...

Hello everyone.. New member here. I just installed a USED 5 year old Accentra Insert and have a problem...

The stove is acting like it has no power. none of the lights come on and nothing works. I verified power from the outlet to the stove and it's definitely getting power. I also checked the fuse on the control board. Everything is good.

This is my first pellet stove, so I'm not sure if I'm doing something extremely dumb here, but I'm lost. I double checked all the wiring and plugs also to make sure they were tight, and nothing... I don't know if I'm missing something stupid, or some kind of safety feature that is keeping the stove off. I checked through the manual with no help.. The stove was running when it was removed so I don't know where to look next.

Maybe the control board??

Any help or tips would be appreciated...

Room temp probe plugged in? Checked the power in the stove at the cord input? I have had a couple power cords go bad.

Yes the room temp probe is plugged in. I actually replaced it because the probe got broken during the move. The new probe from Harman had different connectors than the old probe though, and I switched them over to the same style that was on the old probe so it would plug in... Do you think that may be causing an issue?

And yes, there is power directly to the control board on the stove.
 
Only thing but rare is if the polarity of the outlet right. Heard of couple times was wrong and created headaches. Could have a bad pot. switch on board as they only have so many cycles and are a known problem but usually just give erratic function not a total failure.

Any idea what I should be checking for?
 
Seems to me that if you have no lights at all there is some interruption in the power supply, so I would want to see if there is power at the control board. If there is, and I have no idea how to do this, I would figure out how to check the control board itself. It might be blown which would account for the lack of lights.

With most any other problem I would think you should at least get the power light on the control board lit.
 
I was poking around with a volt meter with the power on and was getting voltage to the plug going in to the control board and it would cut off when I switched the outlet off. So I'm sure here is power getting to the control board. Do you think the control board pretty much has to be the problem?

I just don't want to buy a $200 part and it not be the issue because I missed something totally dumb at install.
 
You say you checked the fuse. Did you check it with a meter for continuity? Don't trust the fact that it "looks" good.
 
There is places that will take an check your board and repair for I think a starting price of around $40. I don't think its to serious. I hate moving a stove and then something fails. I moved a propane stove this week and sure enough it would not start the main burner.:(
 
I'm kind of in a time crunch now with the weather getting cold now.. I don't mind buying a new board of it's gonna fix my problem. I just don't wanna always the $200.
 
Well the weather isn't snowing yet and I would think turn around time would be pretty good right now. The repair shop is on East coast somewhere
 
I sent the board from my 21-year old Invincible to pelletblowers.com (they're in Allentown, Pa) for repair last fall, and was very happy with their service. However, if you can get a new board for $200 (I thought they'd be a lot more than that?), that may be the best option.
 
Maybe send an email to pelletblowers.com before ordering a new one, just to get their opinion. They were very good at explaining things to me when I used their service.

I think I'm going to have to send my Accentra board to them in the spring. I've just discovered the stove temp / room temp control is bad - I have to delicately adjust it to get the stove to stay running, hopefully I'll get through the winter with it first.
 
If you have power to the board and power past the fuse and no red power on led we are as far as we can go online.

Thats one of the pot switches and are cheap. I got two for $8 off Ebay. Had a switch that was coming on all by itself. Not a difficult solder repair and could be done locally at a cell phone or computer repair shop.
 
I can offer this: the control panel on the salt generator for my little above-ground pool packed it in. Same thing: had power, but did not work. The new panel was $800+.

So I pulled the panel and took it to an electronic repair shop. Told them the issue, and within 10 minutes they had determined the problem by testing - burned out current limiter. I bought the part from them ($4.00 I think), took it home and soldered it in. Worked perfectly - and believe me when I say I'm no rocket scientist.

If the panel is expensive, I'd suggest diagnosing the problem with your panel before replacement.

Bioburner - I checked Ebay but can't seem to find a pot switch. Do you know of anywhere else online that I could order one from?
 
I just put in Harman pellet stove switch and it will show up. Also offers the replacement for $40. heiligkuh
