We finally broke down and joined the ranks for Pellet stove owners - Well it will be official Thursday when it gets installed. We got a Hampton GC60 and have started researching and looking for pellets. Locally I can get Green Supreme, Heatrs, TSC (not sure who makes them UPC: 013238000612) and inferno. All around $250 - $260 a ton. Also checking into btpellet which has some stock available. CTPEllet isn't taking new customers. I've been trying to research on here as much as possible about Pellets and Stoves and it's a little overwhelming. Has anyone had recent experience with any of the above pellets or the Hampton?

I was planning to run the stove off a thermostat, but then I also like the thought of letting it run all day long on a low manual setting as well. My kids are in college and living home so there is always someone home at during most parts of the day. I was planning on getting 4 tons of pellets now while they are available, don't really know what I will need. My house is 2200 sq ft, open floor plan. stove will be positioned on the first floor. 4 bedrooms on the second floor. I have forced air oil heat as well. Drafty house for sure, but i do get lots of sun as well. Any thoughts or suggestions on game plan?

Looking forward to the new stove and warmth.

I would rate the Lig's above GS and especially Inferno. I've never tried (nor seen) the Heat'rs, but I have recently heard good things about them

When I want the stove to run continuously on a lower setting, I just crank the thermostat up to a temperature it's not likely to reach. Then set it back to a low temperature if we'll be gone more than a few hours.
