This year on Long Island NY, the big box stores just aren't getting large quantity of pellets. I check periodically, ok daily, and nothing. I am remodeling a room at my house and was at HD last night and of course I checked for pellets, none as usual. Went back today around 10:45 in the morning and they received pellets, the entire delivery consisted of 25 bags of Stove Chow. I of course bought them all. The garden dept employee stated he just put the pallet out before I came in. They have no idea when more will arrive.

never heard of any box store getting delivery of just 1 ton. havent really watched long though

Wasn't even a ton, it was half a ton! It is pathetic!

Sorry, they come in by the truck load, someone else beat you to the rest of them.

You are mistaken, I spoke with the garden associate who said he just got the 25 bag pallet in that morning and literally just put it out. He then stated he had no idea when they are getting more.

No disrespect, but that employee doesn't know where they came from then. Big box stores do not receive pellets by the half ton lol. I work for a box store. We receive tractor trailers containing a full 1100 bags or 21 pallets. The only receiving of a lesser quantity we would do is if we sent our flatbed delivery truck to a neighboring store if we were low and they had an excessive quantity. But box stores get shipments direct from the mills - and mills don't just wrap up 25 bags and ship them.

I agree, I would bet the farm that a half ton delievery didn't come from a mill! But a warehouse or neighboring store. With that said, it is so hard to find pellets at the big stores here because the rare occasion they get the large delivery, they sell in one day. A local Lowe's for a bunch of tons delivered this morning and the garden rep said they were all gone by noon.

Yea, that'll happen at my store sometimes. I've sold full trucks in a day before as well. Even now when we're imposing a two ton limit, it's impossible to regulate, nothing stops someone from buying 2 tons then coming back a couple hours later and buying 2 more.
