HD Shortage over for now?

Hd outside Philly today had around 20 pallets in the Garden area.
[I'm retired and HD and Walmart are almost walking distance so I pop in alot.]
asked about them and they said all are for sale.. None we're being held for pre-buy and they are finally catching up in deliverys.. at least this neck of the woods.
that's a big change from last few weeks where Tractor trailer loads would be gone same day.
4.99 bag......
Half Presto logs and Half Freedom Fuel? never heard of FF.
[maybe no one wants those 2 brands?
I think most will take whatever is available at this point..

kinda funny to hear him say most people who have called each day always asked if Stove Chows came in.
I think Stove Chows should be called the King of Bargain pellets at HD anyways..
Very ashy but quite hot enough to keep you plenty warm...
burned them right thru the Polar Vortex last winter
 
Saw some Freedom Fuel at a Tractor Supply in NH. Didn't happen to buy it. TS here has a bunch of strange off-brand pellets. They do have 'em though, at $5.39 a bag as of last week, regardless of brand.

No doubt you pop in a lot! How many trips do you have to make to get a couple tons home by walking?lol!

50 trips for 1 ton.....1 bag/time..... NOT!!;lol
i'M one of the many baby boomers, who don't look, act or feel our age.. mid 60;s.
that said, for $1 a bag, I;d give it a shot....

I grabbed some of that Freedom Fuel out of curiosity. I had very low expectations for it, but after having gone through one bag, I am surprised to say it burned OK in my Whitfield. Granted it's not my favorite, but certainly not the worst. Ash was on the lower side of average, heat average, and while there was a minor ash build up in the pot, I only had to give it one quick scrape mid day and probably didn't even need to.

I just did some reading reviews on those pellet..
sounds about right..
I burned couple bags of O'Malley's this past week for 1st time.
my impression was low ash,[black and gray] and good heat and a clean burnpot almost..
my Energex hardwoods and stove chows require more scrapping than the O'Malley's.

HD in Salem NH said they were are 60 tons backlog and have searched from South to Canada for pellets. Guy there thought they would never catch up this year. I laughed and said 1) oil is almost cheaper than pellets at this point 2) you don't know what's going to happen after the panic due to last winter subsides 3) it'll likely be warm this winter now :cool:
