Englander 25 PDV programming question

The programming numbers are only used for levels 1 and 2 of the stove. One is a feed rate, and the other Air intake. After level 2 they don't come into play at all. It takes a little time to adjust them where you wish. Depends on the pellets used, OAK used size, of the pellets and such.

The modes the OP is mentioning is not the lower three buttons. On these stoves, if you unplug the stove, plug it in and press certain buttons (I forget, but it's something like both down buttons or both up and down on feed at the same time, do a search to confirm) the stove will allow you to cycle through four different modes, A, B, C, D. The same board is used on the 25-PDV (Mode C) and the 25-PDVC (Mode D).

IIRC, Mike has stated that modes A and B will not give good results with these stoves. And, since you have the PDV, you are likely already running the higher setting. People with the PDVC can bump the program from one mode to the other and have the stove run higher, but for the owners of the PDV, you can really only move it down.

Honestly, you're not really getting more heat out of the stove, your only burning pellets faster. I've even sometimes moved to the lower mode on my PDV for the shoulder seasons, which lets me run at a slightly lower idle with my thermostat.

You can play with two of the bottom three buttons (As long as you keep track of your factory settings), LFF and LBA. Keep the AOT at 1. I adjust the Low Fuel Feed and Low Burn Air depending on how well my pellets are running. If I've got pellets that are piling up too often, I'll increase the LBA, to burn them faster and blow the ash out of the pot. I will keep the LFF as low as I can while consistently keeping the pellets lit. If you go lower, the pellets will go out and will smoke heavily each time new fuel is added. This will add creosote to your stove and will smoke up your window.

Again, go ahead and adjust, as long as you take note of your factory settings.
