Can I run my own stack out the Chimney?

Hey All,
first post. few quick questions. i'll try to be brief.
looking at the VC Aspen, the living space is under 800sqft.
want to slide it into my fireplace and run the pipe up the chimney.
they want $750 install + supplies on an $800 stove?? ......it's killing me.

in the past i use the fireplace a dozen times a year so the chimney is clear. but circa 1937. single story.
1-can i run the smoke stack myself?
2-do I have to go all the way up?
3-chimney is a double side by side up to w/ the oil burner.. do i need to go higher then that side? (they are equal now and have the caps.)
4- is there a " Do it yourself Stack kit with How to Guide"?

5-if anyone has gooood deal on an Aspen, let me know.....

2. existing chimney is 8". and the clay rises above the brick about about 3 inches.
i am confused, you say "if you line it you'll need to go all the way up" is my liner the clay square that the bricks surround? or is a liner the metal tube?

Can I just get past the damper, angle up, go 2ft and let is vent up through the clay/chimney?

Newton... that looks great your pics look like it went so easy, but i'm sure it wasnt.
i was going to do smooth pipe simply becasue i only have to go about 10' after the 5ft the store give you...assuming they give m e flex to get up the damper.
QUESTIONS
- you didnt wrap/insulate the pipe ? my chimney now measured is 10" the pipe is 6", and for safety shouldnt i wrap it?
-you made that 'damper' plate right?
