That looks like sycamore. Don't know how it is to burn as I don't have any around me but its a hard wood so it should be decent. I'm guessing close to the same as maple.

Yeah, Sycamore. I think it looks more like American Sycamore, not the similar London Plane Tree that you see planted in cities. The wood of the two is probably similar. I don't know much about the wood, but I think Kingston73 is probably right - about like soft maples.

Ok thanks. I have an electric log splitter and some of it splits ok. Some won't split. My electric log splitter has had no problems with fresh cut oak but this stuff is tuff.
