So i have been thinking about replacing my avalon arbor pellet stove which has a BTU output of 45,000 with a new E2. Problem is after reading the owners manual it states that the max output is 37,500 btu's with an input of 51,250 btu's. Am i wasting my time looking at the new E2 to replace my stove? The manchester heritage has a 51,000 but output which is more than the E2. I am currently heating 18000 square feet open floor plan in upstate NY. The avalon arbor does very well heating my home just want to get an updated stove. I use just under 3 tons a year. Any thoughts on this new E2? I have seen it in person and it function just don't understand why a heat output of 37,500 Btu's.

Most pellets stoves are rated on input . Are you sure your Avalon's rating of 45,000 is output and not input ?
according to Avalon arbor it says heat output of 45,000 and the manual for the the e2 says 37,500 output with input of 51,250

Ya I saw that, but also the E2 is rated for up to 2900 sq ft. You are at 1800, seems to me you really shouldn't have an issue.
yes I am at 1,800 sq feet...... So the e2 should work fine. why do you think the owners manual said it only had output of 37000 btu with input of 51250?

Well, off the top of my head I would say probably because it does, LOL ! FWIW, the Harman P61 is rated at 61000 BTU. I've been told that is input. But it can be tame or a heating monster, I'm also heating 1800 sq ft. but with the P61. In this old loose house I'm glad we didn't go with less because the P series stove radiate and give convection heat.. But that's my situation not yours. You have to decide on your own choice/ that E2 sure is a beauty to look at !!

Hot !! No I have no idea but it it cranks out some heat. If you don't mind the pellets use I'd say it approaches wood stove output when cranked up. I mean you can smell heat coming off it if you let it rip. You are not touching this thing when it's cranking. Of course we don't run it that way most of the time but it can do it if you need to catch the house up for what ever reason.. We have never had to run it full out to heat the house. But BTU output, I don't know.

I've been running my E2 round the clock for a couple of weeks now. Its a great heater, very quiet, and very easy to maintain. Other than adjusting my trim a bit when I used it the first time, its about as easy a stove to run as you can imagine. One knob for flame height/heat output, and a remote thermostat.
You have to look at the efficiency of the stove. For the P61, 78% efficiency. So 61000 input x .78 = 47580 BTU Output

I don't put a ton of faith in any company's efficiency or BTU ratings--there are too many variables from fuel to flame to air settings to climate that affect it--I'm sure they are listed on the brochures under optimal operating conditions in some lab setting.
My E2 has an 87% rating, which would mean 52,460 BTU x .87= 45,640 BTU Output. But as you read above, the manual states 37k BTU output. All I know is it heats this old drafty pre-Revolutionary house very well so far.

For comparisons: Your Avalon is very efficient at 85%, Rated 45K input puts it at ~38K BTU output. The Manchester is also very efficient at 87% but 51K input not output, Output would be closer to 44K BTU.

So here is the question. Would I see a difference from switching from my avalon to the E2? I do know that the E2 has a 220 ccm blower on it compared to the 135 ccm blower that the avalon has…..
