This afternoon my wife pulls in the driveway and asks if we have power. I told her we did, then she mentions that a tree came down on a line off the main road where you turn off into our neighborhood. All I could think was, "I better go pack up my saw and head up there!" Yeah, I definitely need help.

Great now I feel better about it as it looks like most of us have the same affliction. And there is a simple cure. GET OUT AND CUT MORE WOOD ! Thanks for all the replies and by the way my wife let's me cut all the firewood I can and hunt all the deer I can. We put 50# of venison burger in the freezer yesterday :) Life is good.

I've got it bad too. I was quite conflicted yesterday around 4:30p. I was unloading about a cord of bucked water oak from my trailer (neighbor needed three dropped). I stack my firewood at the far corner of my cleared area near where I got a buck two weeks ago. I was unloading wood and stacking fast wondering how much I'm pressuring the deer with all the noise I was making. It's nice having venison in the freezer and new wood in the stacks this time of year!

Now that is not a disorder. That is you helping out the neighbors ;)

Am I the only one here that senses the OP has a far greater problem than sitting in a deer stand thinking about firewood......that's nothing! The bigger problem is that he's up there with a smart phone posting about it....

I must be getting old.....;em

I find it hard to shut the phone off in the stand also. Kind of ruins the relaxing 'get away'

I walk thru the woods planning a route to cut and get my tractor up in the woods to get some dead oak out. I wonder how many deer I have walked past; need to get priorities straight. I too have three years - 30 cords (this years included on pallets). Still have about another 5 to cut this winter. Hate to see all those nice easy dead elms go to waste. My wife thinks I am nuts.

Thats funny right there! I've done it so it makes it even funnier... or sadder depending how you look at it. You do things like that to pass the time if you're not seeing deer

The deer taunt me constantly! When out cutting splitting stacking they stand around idly watching within yards of me. When I am actively hunting them -nowhere to be found, put those tools away- bingo they are back.

I almost never see deer when looking for them, but see tons of tree rats. When hunting with the .22 or 12 ga., I'll see deer just starting at me like they know I'm not a threat. When I fowl hunt, I don't see birds, when I perch fish in the same lake, birds all over. I think animals know more than we think. And bravo to them for it
