Active since 1995, Hearth.com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment.
We strive to provide opinions, articles, discussions and history related to Hearth Products and in a more general sense, energy issues.
We promote the EFFICIENT, RESPONSIBLE, CLEAN and SAFE use of all fuels, whether renewable or fossil.
I keep on hearing that I should never let the wood touch the glass? Why not? What can happen? I can't always control if a log rolls forward, especially when I'm sleeping. Should I be concerned?
Avoid having the wood touching on a reload (as in the glass forcing the wood back when you shut the door.) If a piece falls in to the glass during the burn, no big deal. It will smudge up the glass some, but no harm done.
