Our auger motor died this morning and I'm starting to replace it. Here are the steps I was given from a previous thread:
Make sure you have all the pellets out of the hopper
Disconnect wires from terminal board
Lossen and remove the allen head screws at the base of the auger "tube"(these will be metric).
Pull entire auger and motor out of stove
Vacuum well
reinstall

Is there anything else I need to think about? Do I need to lubricate anything before I install the new motor? If so, what type of lubricant and where is it applied? Thanks guys.

Due to circumstances, I had to go ahead and replace the auger motor this morning. But here's the kicker - it may not have been the problem. After I finished the install, I tried to start it and nothing happened. I bypassed the surge protector and it started right up. So I replaced the surge protector and now it's running like a champ. The auger motor was over 20 years old so I have no regrets about changing it, especially since it squeals like a chipmunk on occasion and we would rather have it go when it's 40 degrees outside and not -10. I'm keeping the old one for a spare.

Did you have a power surge and it worked like it should ?

I replaced my auger motor last year. It was still working it had just gotten loud. The stove is even quieter than before if that's possible.
