Shutting er down

Time to shut it down for the year wood cutting wise. Can't get back in the area where i cut when its wet or snowy and the forecast is looking like that final dreaded slide into winter and to be honest i don't enjoy cutting in the cold anyways.
This is the pile i got cut this fall, should be at least 5 cord in there im guessing, probably more, to be burned 3 or 4 yrs from now. Hoping it will be ok in a pile like that uncovered over winter. In the spring i'll get it off the ground and stacked nice.

Next year i need to focus on getting some wood sheds with roofs made and getting my wood a tidier appearance. Sure glad i have a huge backyard for a city lot.
Sad to see the season end but im glad i got as much accomplished as i did and it feels good knowing i won't run out of wood this winter like i did last year. Now its time to sit by the fire, looking out the window and watching it snow. It's time to rest.

Yeah i like a decent roof over my wood. Planning next year on using aluminum garage door sections from a buddy for my roof. Only cost should be the 2 x 4 s for framing it.
I'll use 10 ft pallets from the same buddy for the floor. Now i have all winter to plan it out and envision it.

yeah but then i'd have to move it all again when i build the shed. Mixed bag of ash, beech, birch, basswood and some pine.

Im going to try one of them next year with some of that pile. Got couple of ideas i want to try out on them. Rather have them sitting around the yard than a whole bunch of sheds. Sheds are fine as long as you can keep them full of wood. Holz Hausen disappear after you're done with them.
