Cheap fuel oil, should last me years

I use 300 gallons per year but only for hot water.

I was told to turn my oil over every 2-3 years at the most. Told it could go "stale", not sure if it's true or not.

I've been at 3/8 for 4 years, bought 100 gallons friday $285.90 to keep the wife happy. I installed a Hybrid Water heater year ago, cost me $199 after rebates
I'm looking into a 98% oil furnace for cheap and might go that route.......been burning pellets for 17 yr's, wood 10 before this 52 yr old man is getting tired of the work involved.
Was all set to switch to NG in august, until Yankee Gas says because I live on a State road the Free hookup will be $6000...........Bullshit!

We use about 257 gal/year for hot water. 40 gal BoilerMate...
About $75/month with oil at $3.50/gal

300 gallons of oil even at $3 a gallon is $900 a yr just to heat hot water!!....That's ALOT of $$$ wasted, even a electric water heater is rated for under $500 a yr use, Dont know your situation If you have a boiler or standalone oil water heater but i'd ditch that oil hog!

If you are planning to keep it that long you may want to add some biocide. It can be purchased from boat dealers. Unfortunately they recommended pouring in the biocide and then filling the tank to mix it in.

My electric rate is $0.2424 per kwH. Unless we either start showering once a week or learn to love ice showers, I just dont see electric as being more economical.

My electric rate is .0767 until end of year, going up to .0999......whats your generation/delivery charges?

Get a GE Hybrid Water Heater like i did, installed myself and Energy Guide sticker on the side says $195 a yr cost's, cost me $199 after 2 rebates....love it never had such hot water before

Main problem I have is space. I have no place to put it. My entire downstairs is completely finished except for a tiny room that houses our washer, dryer, oil tank and boiler.

Sounds like a lot ,almost a gallon a day or about $75 a month. Electric would be about half that. Even for family.

Bummer, Also it doubles as a Dehumidifier, sucks the warm moist air in, converts it energy to hot water, cool dry air like a/c blow's out, never had my dehumidifier on all summer!

Yikes, your paying hawaii rates. mine is about 10c Kwh.

Look at it this way.....when you run out of that Oil...the replacement cost will probably be over $20 a gallon 5 yrs from now.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I need to burn a few hundred gallons this year. Tank is full, only 71 gallons last fill up.
