PB105 / circulator question

i have a variable speed circulator running from the PB through the oil boiler. First question should that be wired to run all the time or only when the temp in the oil boiler calls for it? Question 2 what speed should the variable speed circulator be set at? Slow, medium or high?

Been searching the posts for just such an answer. Just connected PB105 to oil boiler in parallel and looking to see what the best temp to have the circulator come on to circulate the PB water. Bye the Bye thanks for all the help from all the posts up to this point. So far so good though.
 
if they are in parallel why do you want the water to circulate? if the oil boiler is going to keep itself at whatever minimum temp you've set, there's no real need to move heated water from the PB to the other. It would basically be a heatsink.
 
I have my PB piped in parallel with the OB and I do use a 007 taco circulator to move the heated water to the OB. This circulator running is controlled by an aquastat located in the top of the OB. This circulator insures that when a call for heat on a zone, hot water in the OB will be circulated in that zone, the return back to the OB, without this circulator between the boilers heated water by the PB has no way of getting to the OB which would have the OB running to supply the heat needed. I have the aquastat that controls the circulation of water between boilers set at 180* with a 20* differntial, meaning that this circulator starts at 160*, shuts off at 180*. Also, keeping the water in the OB at a desired temp, if you have a tankless heater installed in your OB, this will supply your DHW needs. My PB is the primary heat source with the OB low control setting set at 130* as a backup in case the PB fails for whatever reason.

Being new to the Pellet boiler scene, i"m slowly understanding the system. Have since installed a relay from the TT to the PB circulator. Now the PB builds up nice heat and circulator only comes on when called by a zone. I'm sure there are many different ways to tweek the system and reading all the info on this forum makes my head spin with ideas. Thanks for the response.
 
I plumbed mine in series...All my zones in the main house use circulator pumps (one foe each zone...6 ) my out building uses one temperature controlled circulator (controlled by return temp) and an additional 5 zone valves.... being as its plumbed in series all controls that control oil boiler control pellet boiler as well. to hold off oil boiler, I interrupted one of the wires to the TT terminals on aqua stat and placed a simple honewell thermostat in the circuit....If the temp stays high it is an open circuit and oil boiler will not fire ....if pellet boiler fails temps will drop and the oil boiler will satisfy all thermostats.... simple
