Well after much research and reading many posts on this site I'm going to pull the trigger and buy a Harman Accentra 52i the pellet stove insert. Any input of this stove is still greatly appreciated as of tips and tricks of what works best for people. I'm going to build a fireplace and use the zero clearance surround with the install into a double wide mobile home. This pellet stove is mobile home approved and there's not to many like that. I will be posting picture of the build along the way and hopefully have this project complete within a month.

I originally found this site when I installed a Daka add on furnace into my last house and the knowledge of everyone who chimed in to make it possible was excellent for me to complete the install myself. That woodburner worked out great. My biggest decision was between an outdoor wood boiler like e-classic 1450, 2400. and this Harman 52i, I think with looks and ease of operation for my lady to use the Harman won. In the future I would still like to add the e-classic but not for maybe 3-4 years from now.

My design goal is to build a fireplace with stone and hearth also have a mantel with a tv mounted above. Any input or ideas are always considered as I don't have my final ideas in stone yet. Thanks and will post pics soon.

Congrats and good choice.gets some nice pics of it burning .

My design goal is to build a fireplace with stone and hearth also have a mantel with a tv mounted above.

When I had a wood burning insert, the brick fireplace and even the wood mantle got hot enough that I figured any TV mounted above it would soon be a candidate for The Persistence of Memory. Now that I have the Accentra insert, the brick, etc., doesn't really get warm at all. We've had discussions about putting a TV up there now, I think it would be OK, our concerns would be non-heat-related (viewing angle, giving up the neat corner cabinet the TV is now mounted in).

I've had the Harman Accentra insert 3 years now, and the brick around the stove doesn't get hot at all.

That said, if you are using your stove as a heat source for your house, being in the same room as the stove can start to feel too hot pretty quick. See the heat diagram in my signature below. I use my Harman to heat most of my house. If you're getting the 52i, you're going to have even more heat output than my Accentra.

With a tv over the stove, you are going to be sitting directly in front of the heat blast. It might be a bit much.

I have my heat probe coming up from behind my couch in the same room as the stove. It just sticks up slightly as to get a reading of room temperature. If you have a cat make sure it doesn't fall asleep on the temp probe, it's really hard to keep the house warm when the stove is reading cat temperature. Took me a bit to figure out why the stove wasn't running. Moved cat, problem solved.

Movemaine thanks for the floorplan site here is a layout of my house its a double-wide mobile home so no basement total square feet is about 1900. I have a living room with couch's that I plan on putting fireplace in, the kitchen and bar room are across from living and I think this stove will heat these quite well. The bedrooms are on either sides of the living and was plan on using fans to distribute heat if needed. The front of stove to front of main couch is about 7 feet so yes I think it will be warm but not unbearable. Tiger as for the TV sitting above stove it will be recessed a bit something around 3 inches so front of TV is more flush with front of the stone around it. So its good to hear that the stone doesn't get to hot. The living room also has two ceiling fans in it to move some of this heat around. As of now my main source of heat is propane and with cost of that reaching $5 gallon last year I'm just trying to find something else. I spend about $2400 on propane if it stays $1.80 gallon and my house is about 62 degrees which is nowhere near warm, this place feels drafty. I hope all this makes sense and like the comments from everyone.

Looks like we have a new member.the harman gang welcomes you, nice choice you will like the accentra

Does anyone have pictures of there exhaust on a harman 52i? I will be going out the sidewall and was wondering the clearances of this exhaust and how hot it really gets. Thanks

Well I had a quote for accentra 52i with installation for $7100 which is a bit high for me so I'm going to attempt to install myself and might need some much needed advice for fellow members. Without install price of stove and parts I need was right around $5500 this was a bit more realistic.

Great advice here! Had my Harman Accentra insert going on six years and love it. Welcome aboard and you won't regret the purchase or joining up!

Is there a benefit of 4" over 3" I think total I should only need about 6ft. My local menards has all 3" in stock as 4" is special order.
http://www.menards.com/main/heating-cooling/venting/pellet-venting/c-6893.htm?criteria2_facet=3 Inch

Also is this the pipe style everyone is using? max temp of 570 degrees if that sound right?

Thank,
Paul
I used double-walled stainless 4 inch. Harman exhaust is supposedly limited to 500f. Wouldn't want to take a chance with anything less but that's me. Maybe some of the others here will chime in. Reason I recommended 4 is I've seen too many draft problems with 3. Local stove shop.is also a resource.

That's almost exactly what I paid; I figured the install was worth it as they removed the HEAVY wood-burning insert as part of the job.

Im building a fireplace on a blank wall so that quote for me was a bit high as I was looking closer to 6k as most of the work is going to be done by me and there is nothing to remove.

After lookin at other I think straight up through the roof is easier as I would only need about 10ft of pipe with a cap sounds like the easier route as going out the house and up would have a few 90 degree angles in it costing a bit more money.

Price included the stove, exhaust vent pipe, chimney cap, insert frame. I elected not to install an OAK at this time. Always can add it later if necessary.

So does anyone have a picture of there exhaust or how it exits the house? Also what size comes off of zero clearance and stove 3" or 4" vent pipe just checking to see if I need an adapter.

I paid $5252 for my 52i in September. That included the following:
Installation
Zero Clearance cabinet
Vent piping
Outdoor Air Kit (OAK)
Log Set

We're happy with the choice we made so far. This stove throws a ton of heat. So much so we can't even think of running the blowers on high- you'd have meat falling of the bone if you did. Pretty much a "set it and forget it" unit. Just keep pellets in there and keep it clean and she'll do the work.

I recently did a full stone surround, which included everything from the mantel to the cultured stone. This was not included in the prices quoted above. Since I did all the work myself I would offer up these tips. Shop around for mantels. I actually installed a Pearl Mantel, but I ordered it from Walmart.com and it was half the price I've found everywhere else. Save yourself some time on the stone work. I used hardibacker cement board over the sheet rock with laticrete mvs mortar. Stuff went up super easy and saved me a ton of extra work. Note, the zero clearance box holds the stove up an inch off the hearth. It's really designed for new construction applications. Reference the zero clearance box manual to understand the shape of the front of the box so that you can plan to build your hearth around it. It's an odd trapezoidal shape, and something Harman should work on in the newer models because it makes retrofit installs harder than they need to be. Most of the people install the unit on top of the existing hearth, which means the front "feet" of the stove won't rest flush on the hearth because they sit up an inch due to the ZC box. Good luck with your install and new stove. I'm sure you'll love it.

Ok so here is my wall I want to build this fireplace on with it being a mobile home my outside wall is only 7' tall so instead of putting a raised hearth I'm going to flush it to the floor. This will make it seem like the room is a bit bigger I believe instead of taking up the space in front of fireplace. Mainly for walking and to avoid injuries that could be caused with stone edges. Hopefully all this will look ok in the end. I want to be 18" out from back wall and all the way up to ceiling, the width of this will be 80" so almost squareish when you look at it. Need to upgrade this old TV and bring some heat to the house.

7100 very high for that stove. We had a quote installed,zc box, and all piping for 4700 . Found a p35i on Craigslist for a steal and had them install that. Great stove
