What is the best pellet to burn in this stove? Also the control board keeps saying S U even after it runs a while..... it seems to be running fine. What's that mean?

S U is start up...it'll run in start up mode for 15 minutes maybe ?...then you will be able to adjust it
to what you want the settings to be

as far as pellets....every stove is different, buy different brands and try them till you find one you like

Even after the 20 mins of Start Up..... The display still says S U. The stove can run an hour nd still says S U. The Stove seems to be running fine and the control board will continue to say S U. When I press the on button it will Display the settings I have choosen then revert back to say S U.......

Not really directly related .. but does mention issues during the StartUp process:
http://www.englanderstoves.com/help/PelletStove/ecodes04.html

So, after starting and running in SU mode for a few minutes, does the room air blower kick in?
Mine doesn't always, and the previous owner said he just hits the off button, then the on button again, and the blower kicks in.
I wonder if the same might kick yours out of SU mode? If the room air fan doesn't kick in, it may not be getting up to temp.

if i was you i would call englander and ask them whats up.. in the mean time im sure your not gonna hurt the stove... it might just be a temp sensor that's not tripping and having it switch to normal burn mode..

ya this time of year is tough with all people getting new stoves and having questions.. so even when the board say S U the convection blower turns on and its putting out heat? that odd

took 40 min but i got thru yesturday, called them on the way home still had to wait 20 min after i got home never had a busy signal

Every time you press the start buttin the stove goes through the start cycle.... I was pressing the start button to illuminate the control board........

Wow .. sounds silly, but 'kinda' makes sense.
Now that you mention it ... if my lit numbers go out, and it's running .. pressing one of the up/down arrows will actually change that setting ... not just re-light up the display. i.e. if I know I left the feed rate at 9 .... hitting the down arrow when the numbers aren't lit, to see what they are .... lights up the numbers OK .. but the feed rate is then 8.

Good to know!

Ya my stove is the same way... How has your stove been running?

Mine has been running OK. Was hoping for a bit more heat out of it, but pellet burn, etc is pretty consistent.
I have come home and found the stove's feed/blower settings on 1/0, when I 'thought' I had them set at 9/9 when I left ... two days in a row. I KNOW I set them on 9/9, this morning, so will see if they change again.

So .. maffetaj ... is yours running OK now? I thought your model had the same controller as mine (mine's been replaced, sometime in the past) ... but mine doesn't have a 'start' button .. just 'off' and 'on' , besides the feed rate/blower speed, and the 3 'magic' buttons on the bottom. Hitting my 'on' button doesn't put it back into start mode, however...Hmmm .... I think. Now I have to go try it again, when I get home! LOL
