I just recently installed an Englander pah pellet stove in my basement garage. I have a thermostat hooked to it, it has been burning excellent but the fire went out on me 2 times so far. I have my thermo set at 67 deg. and my stove turned down to 2-2 and it seems to be just barely idling most of the day. Today I got home from work and the fire was out but I had a handful of fresh pellets laying in the pot. Any ideas whats going on here? Is my thermo too low and the fire is eventually going out? too much buildup of ashes? It burns for 2 days then it seems to go out. This is my first pellet stove so im trying to find the sweet spot.

Been cleaning the burn pot and the stove out?

Yes about every 4 days I brush out the pot and empty ashes. I'm wondering if my burn pot is plugging up the holes? Should I scrape it quick daily while its burning?

You might want to talk to ESW about possible adjustments for the lower three settings, you might be getting to much air or it is possible that the stove isn't reliably feeding pellets.

Are you using it in high low mode on that t-stat?

Yes I have it in low/high mode. I think although I could be wrong that the 3 settings are 1-4-2

I can't remember if I changed them or if they were factory set.

Your bottom settings are your issue. The 1-4-2 is wrong on at least two parameters. With a LFF of 1, the stove isn't feeding enough between auger cycles to keep the flame going. I've never been able to reliably run with the LFF below 3. Even on 2, it will still go out once in a while. Bump it up to 2 initially and see if that solves your issue. If it gets better but still goes out occasionally, then bump it up to 3.

The AOT button controls the temperature that your room blower comes on. Higher number means the blower turns on at a higher temperature. It should never really be above 1. IMHO, I never want the room blower to turn off, it would just be wasting heat.

Now if those settings are flip flopped and you're actually running 2-4-1, then bump up the LFF to 3 and give it a go.

Good luck!

your stove is completely different that the OP's unit, parameters should be 1-4-1 , the 2 on the AOT may be why its happening due to a higher POF requirement, set the AOT down to 1 and see if that clears it up

If the POF wasn't being met, wouldn't the feed auger stop? I'm wondering why he would have unburnt pellets in his pot.

ok , i see the unburned pellets , this could be a dropped pressure switch, to the OP look inside the front of the stove over in the far right hand back corner there is a space about an inch wide that runs to the top of the firebox, just above the top of the ash drawer is a small tube coming out of that alleyway. check the end of that tube for buildup. it leads back to the pressure switch, if its blocked it can prevent the auger motor from cycling steadily possibly resulting in skipped cycles letting the fire die then dropping a few cycles in before seeing drop below proof of fire and going to shutdown.

locate this tube and ream out the tip of it with a toothpick

ok thank you gentleman. How do I change those 3 factory settings again? I know I cant change them while its running and I read the manual but its unclear to me how to change them. id like to know how just in case I do have to move them up or down by a number. Thanks again

Ok I did find the tube and I cleaned it out. There was some buildup on it. I also double checked my parameters and it was set at 1-4-1. I did however bump it up to 2-4-1 and I'm going to try that and see how it runs. Thanks again for all the help guys as I am very new to this.

Funny this thread happened same time as mine and seems to have shed some light on my issues. Mine has gone out a few times. In fact was out when I got home though the hopper was nearly empty so thought it just wasn't feeding pellets. Well when I tried to restart it never lit off. Then I realized the pot was bare... Auger was not spinning. Checked the lid switch and connections. Then caught this thread and located that pressure tube. Had stuff in the end I cleaned out with toothpick. After that it started working again so I figure that must have been it.

Also didn't realize the procedure to adjust bottom three was different for this stove, thanks for that. One issue I am having is a lot of black soot so will try and adjust the air.

I'm also going through pellets much quicker than the specs show, #1 burns about 1.25 bags per day. And it doesn't look like I can adjust that down any further. But now were into the cold I need a higher setting anyhow.
