Correct it is a 02....I just cleaned the stove like 3 hrs ago I'll wait until tom when I do my daily cleaning to check and see if I can find that setting or not

If I don't get this running correctly Pete I defiantly am going to...... Couldn't beat the cost of the stove it was free..... But I can probably sell it and get a decent coal stove for the money I make off of it
 
If you have a digital control board you can change the mode in your stove follow the steps you were given just hang in there the englanders can be a bit frustrating at first but once you get your settings right you will be very pleased.i was ready to throw my pdvc out for trash I completely rebuilt it and had the ash problem even after replacing every part and gasket in the stove.turned out my settings were off by just a bit I also changed pellets and the thing runs like a clock thanks to the people on this forum.
Just hang in there don't spend all that money for another stove the people on here will get you goin

Englanders/ESW do build up with ash quickly and require a little more maintenance then high end models, ...

I think due to the stirrer, my 10-CPM only needs cleaning like once a week. Well, even then it doesn't seem all that bad but I do it anyway.
 
I Never experienced a 10-cpm. I have a PDVC no "stirrer" here just a ash pot.

I have a Summers Heat 55SHP and it does the same thing in the burn pot. I was about to return it to Lowes. It still warmed the house for the last day and a half with that cake of ash in the burn pot. I wasn't letting it run long enough to warm the house (1000 sq ft cape that has an open floor plan). After getting the house warm (75 downstairs, 68 up), it did fine on heat setting 2 and fan on 2. I run a ceiling fan and a floor fan to spread the hot air.

Is your stove heating the house okay? Sorry to hijack but does anyone know if my Summers Heat has the same control board as this Englander. I don't have a way to see the bottom 3 numbers people are talking about.
 
it heats the house pretty good but kind of useless to me because like u said u said U can't go above heat range 2 or it just clogs up with ash...... I really think I'm just going to get rid of mine poor design and more of a hassle than anything at this point..... I got the stove to heat the house not fight with it every single day..... It's a shame nice looking stove just doesn't perform well at all I'm afraid if I do turn it up and it back up with ash I'll end up with a hopper fire while I'm at work or something
 
I scratch my head tho....... Even after knowing there is a issue with the burn pot U would thing englander would redesign the burn pot so the stove would operate correctly which they havent??? And I understand that maybe if I find softwood pellets it will work ok but then what happens when I'm stuck in the middle of winter or something and have to run hardwood pellets...... I'm back to the same spot in in now...... So it's for sale for anyone looking will definitely be putting it on Craigslist tonight!!

And no offense if I was able to return it and get a different stove besides the 25 PDV I defiantly would
 
I hear ya on the return, I just can't justify an extra $1500 for a stove I still have to shut down and scrape out twice a week vs three times a week. No offense taken. In my case, my pellets are burning enough and keeping my house up to temp. The only issue I'm now facing is shutting it down to clean it a few times a week. Still less maintence than a wood stove, but more than a lot of more expensive pellet stoves.

If money weren't an issue, I'd be running a Harman Accentra or an XXV. They look great in my opinion and they perform very well. Since I'm trying to save money, and my stove is working, I'll stick with it.
 
Understood...... I just don't get it tho it's just a bad design on the burn pot..... Why does englander just not correct it and sell a replacement burn pot??? Just doesn't make sense to me other than that it's a good stove
 
I see what you're saying about the pot. I think they have sold enough of those stoves that they feel the design is fine. It is a simple product. The 30 min DVD it comes with shows you how to replace everything.

I'm very interested so hear about the modified pot. You have a link to a thread on here? What does it look like or do?

I got thru yesturday they think it is my burn pot gasket order one also sealed off my exhaust pipe where it connects to the the unit with tape ran last night no black but i did not hit the off button and filled the hopper today and started noticing the glass getting black will check it when i get home to see how black the glass is. I am still getting a lot of crust ash in the burn pot running Pro pellets which everyone says they are very good???
 
I've been heating my house for six winters now here in New England. The full Burn Pot issue has always been an issue with me. I found that cutting a piece of SOS Pad to fit into the big hole on the right side of the Burn Pot helps with the air flow within the Fire Zone. Also once a day I hit the Off Button ...open the door and with a small metal shovel (beach toy)
I scoop out the large clumps of ash that have built up and dump them to the side. Making sure to clean the sides where the air holes are and the end closest to the door. Be sure to leave some of the red hot coals behind so that when you close the door and hit Start the Burn Pot has a nice red hot base to continue with the burn.
 
wondering if not hitting the off button when filing the hopper because ran all night no black on the glass filled it this morning and Now i have black on the glass... any Ideas???? or is the burn pot getting to full. did not empty it this morning
 
I cleaned my stove last night and it's been on heat 1 fan 1 since then. House remains at 73/4 degrees. Burn pot is half full of that cake as usual. It's working just fine.

I do not turn my stove off to fill the hopper. I'm a bit nervous to open the door while it's running to dump that ash cake off to the side. I will probably try the turn off, wait for flame to die off, push ash to side, then turn back on technique. I assume you don't wait for all blowers to shut off when doing this?

My pellets are softwood which seems to be preferred for this stove from what I read here. It also seems that this ash cake is also just how the stove operates. I plan on keeping the stove for at least a few years. I'm trying to save money and can deal with a little extra maintence.
