Got home today and had that dreaded trip ticket from my propane supplier hanging on the door. Slowly opened the envelope:

286.2 gallons
Price/gallon $1.57. [emoji2]

I was planning on getting 1 more ton of barefoot pellets but that bill makes me rethink that decision.

Burn the pellets while they are cheap and save the gas for when you are out of town.

Give it six months, I bet you wont see that price for propane again anytime soon.

I was just charged $4.55 per gallon.....they reduced it to a bargain $3.80 a gallon after my irate phone call.....

That's about what they charge here for propain tank exchange.

Update NY, Syracuse area. Part of Lake to Lake energy co-op. Have burned 36 bags so far, 21 shoulder bags and 15 super premium bags.

Home is 2600 sq ft with stove on south side bedrooms on north. I keep the temperature on the south side at 75 degrees which keeps the north right around 69 degrees.

My mother in-law filled her LP tanks today 1.99 a gallon, heard a ad on the radio today for fuel oil at $2.30 a gallon 100 gal minimum. All pellet prices are up $50 plus a ton, the savings margin in getting tight. Time to rethink things. We are east coast.

So fill up now cause oil/propane probably won't be cheap in January and if it is I won't get another 2 tons of pellets

If propane was that cheap here, would not fire up pellet stove. But got 4 tons, and full tank(1.89) so good for a year.

meh...propane or oil here usually means a contract, no thanks. This will be short lived.

The more of you that go back to oil and propane the better.....that will leave more pellets for the rest of us!!!!

All signs are pointing to oil/propane going lower before it goes higher. There's a healthy amount of backwardation in the 2015 futures market right now. You have to look to 2016 to see any contango effects.

propane more so at least around me you can call just about any oil company and they will deliver cash on the spot.

Can you PM me some details about who your supplier is? E&V just filled me up, at $2.49/gal on propane - I'm right in the Syracuse area too and I think I've been robbed!

Not sure where the OP is located, but Most of the Midwest is under $1.80 right now, most of the East coast is over $3...
I called 2 weeks ago when I started hearing people were actually paying under $2/gal on here. No such luck, 2.19 / gal for >150gal will-call. I asked if it was still dropping since oil was still coming down, they said its already going back up (10 cent increase a few weeks ago). I said no thanks.

NJ you must not have the right family connections, if you know what I mean ;). Seriously I would shop around.

I fully understand your point. Right now im burning pellets over night and using oil during the day when no one is home. I only ha e about half of what I need for pellets to get through the winter. If oil continues to stay low than instead of restocking pellets I will just use oil. Problem is oil is very volatile. I'd rather not be using oil with the hopes that it will still be cheap in january.

If oil and propane goes and stays down then pellets will have to go down, works for me;)
