Is there a pellet shortage here on long island? Theres never any pellets in the box stores. How about other states?

It is extra bad on Long Island this year. Bayshore Home Dopey had 10 or so tons of Fireside Ultra last week. I grabbed a ton. No idea if they have any left.

IMNTBHO, and I've bought lots of big-box pellets, you're better off buying from a supplier that has a consistent supply of a good quality pellet. I buy my Lignetics from Ace hardware. I THINK that is their chain standard these days. Try them. Plenty here in NEPA. Got mine for $230 a ton in July. They still have them.

I have yet to find a super on Long Island that sucks pellets in the off season. We are forced to buy in the fall

Id Jump on Lignetics for $230 a ton. $320 here on long island

Not much to be found around the Lehigh Valley (eastern PA). Lowe's and Home Depot get a few tons in and it's gone in a day, Lowe's in Lehighton was limiting it to 10 bags per customer when they had them. I ordered 6 tons of Turmans at the end of August from my stove shop, the Cozy Barn, and they still have no idea when or if they can make delivery. Ace hardware has some Ligenics for $6.99 a bag with a 5 bag limit. Might as well burn oil at that price point....

It is tough to find pellets here on LI. I got Lignetics for $300/ton and Greenway for $287.50/ton but that was last month - prices probably went up. Found a guy on Craigslist selling PrestoLogs for I think $385/ton! We got various brands at Lowe's / Home Depot in the past few weeks (AWF Premium Hardwood, Stove Chow, Fireside Ultra). Never know when they will have them. We found another guy selling pellets but we still have to find out what brand and price.

I dont know. All I know for sure is that pellets have been fully stocked at my house since April.

You'd have better luck successfully milking an alligator than buying 4 tons of pellets in April on Long Island.

In north east Maryland. I read that some of the hearth stores nearby were already running low and out in some places. I saw several tons at the Lowes nearby. They had Somersets.

Seems like every winter around here the box stores run out quick then the hearth/fireplace stores have them but start limiting buyers to 5-10 bags per day.

+1. It's human nature to wait until the last minute but prudent not to.
