Came in from plowing snow, fixing snow blower and trying to blow a path to my garage,( too much 5ft deep) , raking snow off my roof, removing snow from both satellite dishes. And what do I find: "Dreaded Harman auger squeal" Great just great..

Very minor problem.

Try burning on HIGH heat for about a half hour. Also, when did you last clean out your fines box ?

Not huge problem. Make sure the auger to burn pot transition area is scraped clean as possible. The squeal hasen't made an appearance here for a long time. If it did I wouldn't be too concerned.
Sorry about that snow. I hate the stuff myself. I loathe the idea of it.

Junk in the pellets?

Maybe it swallowed some snow.:) We just have the cold here so far. January temps. Supposed to break 32 for a day maybe two this weekend. Have do a total cleaning of the Harman after tried feed it some old Indeck pellets. Was hoping not to have to do the venting till spring so you got company on having to do some extra stove work.

Re: Harmon Auger Squeal:
My P61A developed a very bad case of auger squeal a few weeks ago, to the point I had to shut the stove off until I could make it stop. Every time the auger moved I would get the squeal. I had managed to stop the noise last year with a very careful scraping of the output end of the feed tube but that didn't seem to help this time. Convinced there was a buildup of carbon on the inside of the tube I searched for something to dissolve it. I finally decided to try Hoppe's Elite gun cleaner (hey, it says right on the bottle it dissolves carbon, so I figured I'd try). It comes in a small spray bottle. I grabbed two old toothbrushes and bent one at a 45 degree angle to reach the top of the feed tube. I sprayed the cleaner on the brushes and scrubbed what I could reach and then sprayed more into the tube. I let it sit for 3 or 4 hours and when I got back the visible surfaces were all clean metal! The "melted" carbon had settled at the tube end of the burnpot and was easily scraped out with an old screwdriver (it was much softer than the glassy carbon residue from burning, although it looked similar). I vacuumed the whole area carefully and fired up the stove. NO MORE SQUEALING!

Your mileage may vary, but this has definitely worked for me so I wanted to pass it along.

When I need to clean that area, I'll try that. Have some already so definitely worth a try.
