Got almost two cord oak today. 400 yr old tree. Actually reference in town charter as a boundary.

What a massive beast!! Makes my back hurt just sitting here looking at it.
Very cool on the historical significance.
 
There are two 10ft sections of the v standing still. Tree company coming back. Friend might slab it. Base is over 4 ft diameter.
 
Rather than a new thread. Friend dropped a load of sugar maple today

Did you keep a hunk for history sake? Maybe carve it into something cool.:) Nice looking firewood. Huge pieces. Have fun splitting.

It's a shame it's such an historic tree..... but all good things must come to an end.
 
Working with the owner and historical society to save a slab and do a time line on the rings. Will post pics of that once we get it all worked out
