I am trying to add double wall DVL pipe to the Englander 30NC.

I will have a 24 inch straight piece vertical from the top outlet.

The NC has 4 pre-drilled holes in the stove collar. My DVL pipe has only 3 holes, and at different positions on the circumference..
I don't think I want to try to drill new holes in the collar. (it is thick stuff).

The holes in the collar are also bigger diameter than the pipe and would align at a different height.

;? Do I need to drill all new holes in the DVL;?

Seems odd. Am I missing something?
Advice?

Thanks!

Mine is telescopic and just sets inside the collar snugly. Screws at the top and gravity does the rest. I don't have any screws at the collar

See message #25, and the third picture in that post.

"Took the 6DVL-ADC adapter and crimped the smaller diameter side. This fits very snug into the stove collar, with three screws to keep it in place. The other end fits pretty snug into my DVL, though it doesn't have anything but gravity holding it down. The flanges are all correct to keep any creosote (hah!) going down into the stove."

I actually had this on hand from my previous "install". I still have the proper adapter which I'll install at some point.

And three screws because the rear one on the flange is difficult to get to with the rear heat shield in place.

Isn't there a DVL appliance adapter that goes into the stove collar?
Like this:

I have seen that. But, the end of that is the SAME diameter as the DVL I have.
So, I would not be gaining any advantage that I can see.

Actually using that adapter would leave a gap around the top of the stove collar as the 5 5/8 end would not fit down inside the stove completely.

Stove entrance is smaller than 5 5/8 here.

My DVL diameter is 5 5/8 already.
Here it is.

If I just sit my DVL down into the stove collar, it does not fit snug.
It actually will wobble on there as the inner wall end of the DVL lands on the weld down in the collar. ;hm

Hope this is correct, that is how mine is installed.
I just swapped stoves yesterday. The DW had only been on my old stove for 6 weeks. Had to work at it to get it off.

So your DVL already has one end crimped? If that fits snug in the flange, I'd personally be fine with making new holes to match the flange on the stove.

The 6DVL-AD is used to adapt to DVL that is not crimped (should be like every other joint in your run of DVL).

If I set the DW pipe down inside of the collar, this is how it looks.
The inner crimped end rests on the stove collar's weld-bead.
Therefore the pipe wobbles side to side as there is nothing to secure it. Unless I can get screws in it somehow.

The outer part of the pipe doesn't even rest completely on the stove top. (slight gap)

I think I would have the same results with an adapter.

.

Thanks for your help Hoozie,

Yes crimped, inside facing down into collar. It is not snug though.

If I drill 4 holes into DW pipe to match the collar, then I will end up with 7 holes total.
Well, 4 will have screws in them and 3 will just look vacant and at a different height.:(

You would think manufacturers could standardize the holes. I had the same problem hooking up my Drolet. I ended up using door gasket material for a leak proof fit but it was a pain and I'm picky.

It is not suppose to sit onto the stove. The gap allows air to flow through between the inner and outer layer.

I'm pretty sure that's what these things are made for. I put in a DVL system not long ago and I don't recall anything with a crimped end except the appliance adapter. I had to adapt mine to a smaller Euro standard collar. This is a US standard stove. I find it hard to believe that adapter won't work. You can always call or chat with northlineexpress.com ; they were very helpful to me. It's only 25 bucks plus shipping.

Hey, for 38 bucks you can get a DVL appliance adapter with a damper in it:

I installed this double wall from metal fab on my englander Friday evening. Not one section section of the pipe fit easily together. Also there were no pre drilled holes in any of the pipe sections. Where the pipe meets the stove top there is not a place for screws. Here are some pics of my install. I Am new to all this and not sure if it is correct. But the draft is great. Maybe the more experienced with the englander can help out.
