Hi All...picked this up today, via online garage sale site. Brand new in box...only $40 bucks! I don't know much about these, but assuming it would be a good backup power supply for my pellet stove?

Its better if you use a pure sine wave one but anything is better then nothing.

Without modifications, that unit will probably run your stove for 30 - 40 minutes.

Nice, that's worth 3 to 4x what you paid for it.

I considered that about 10 years ago. I just went an added a whole house Generac unit. No need after that.

I doubt will handle an auto-ignite sequence, however if you have your thermostat turned up it should keep the stove running for a while.

SidecarFlip what size Generac did you get ? Am shopping for one now. Had enough of the power outages..

Well, that's not horrible and will give me enough time to fire up the generator. What kind of modifications are you talking about?
External batteries to extend the run time.

If it has been sitting for a few years, you may have to buy new batteries as they have a limited shelf life whether they are used or not.

It all depends upon your house and how much electricity you are trying to supply. If a standby generator is 10 years old, it probably has individual circuits switched, but today, many standby generators are the wholehouse kind. You don't have to choose individual circuits. I bought mine about 5 years ago, a GE 12k unit from Home Depot for $3000, with a 200amp whole house transfer switch, including delivery. My electrician buddy wired it for about $400, and my local gas company charged me about $400 for piping the gas to it.

When my power goes out, the stove goes into an auto shutdown sequence. Once the generator is on, I can restart the stove. I've just put a UPS on it, so I hope that'll bridge the minute between power out and generator on, and stop the auto shutdown.

I get 8 hours out of my APC. It allows me to shut down our noisy generator at night and still keep warm.

I got a stove here at this house, and a 12. kw genny standby setup at our other place and not so much as a UPS here so I need to get my ship together before I smoke the place up and make a mess.
