My friend has a QuadraFire Castille pellet stove insert that he got a couple of years ago and only used for 2 seasons. He wants to sell it as it wasn't efficient enough for his house. Currently, I have an old propane insert in my fireplace which is really not working well anymore. He said he'd give me the insert and all of this pipe for $800. I'm really interested in it, but concerned that I won't be able to remove the pipe from his chimney. His house is 2 stories tall and has a very pitched roof. Would it be that hard to do? And is it something I can install fairly easily in my fireplace? Or should I have it professionally installed? I've installed 2 pellet stoves before, but never done one in a fireplace. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it's in good shape that sounds like a pretty good price. Could you get a ladder up to the chimney to disconnect the cap and then pull the pipe out the bottom?

I installed my insert directly out the back of the chimney...bored a 3 " hole right through the brick and installed a 3"stainless pipe.3 and a half feet long..sticks out a foot behind chimney...simple

Being a redskins fan I normally wouldn't give a giants fan the time of day...but it seems we both have nothing to look forward to this season....we're in the same crappy hole riddled boat!
