Hello everyone. I am hoping for input on a reasonable price for a 1998 Hearthstone Mansfield, a good sized soapstone stove. I am considering listing one for sale on Craig's List.

Eight years ago when we were thinking about buying it, I posted here and asked what it was worth. That thread is closed but I may re-post some of the info in that thread --and the pictures-- here when I have a little time. In the meanwhile, I am posting a link below. We never installed it so it should be in the same condition it was in when we bought it.

I look forward to your feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Cath

I edited my opening post here and included pictures from my 2008 thread. I converted them to jpeg and tried re-sizing them but for some reason you can't see the whole picture unless you click on it.

It's in the same condition as it was when we bought it since we have never used it. We bought it from the second owner who said he never used and the original owner only used it for 3 seasons.

The crack in the lower right corner of the right side seems superficial. There is a bigger/wider crack on one of the front stones on the floor of the firebox but we should be able to repair that with refractory cement.

Again, I'd be interested in any feedback on how to price it if we try to sell it.

See Cath. You should have let me have eight years ago. ;lol

I would offer it for $1000 and be happy if I got $800. There has been a model change since it was made and that, the cracks and the age are gonna lean on the value in the eye of the beholder.
