I am looking to purchase wood stove for a 2600 sq ft basement in a new construction. I am leaning towards the Lopi Cape Cod, but wanted to know what you guys think about the Quadrafire, Jotul, and Vermont Casting. I live in North Alabama where we have mild winters, but it does get quite cold in the winter. My wife is going with a Rustic Industrial look.

Thanks in advance for you suggestions.

Nice! We have 3700 sq ft on the main floor. We are on a sloped lot. So we decided to build a basement instead of have a large crawl space, as the cost is about the same. We are thinking of putting a gas fireplace on the main level.

I've had my Cod since Dec 12, of 2012.... Love it... My best advice is the better seasoned the wood is the hotter & longer the burn times.... 3 cu ft firebox is great too.... It's meant to hold 24" length... I cut everything 22-24".... I'm heating 1900 sq ft center hall colonial with opened up floor plan to better evenly distribute heat & it's better for family & entertaining too......I've been waking up to 74-78 degrees in my downstairs with partial logs / full bed of coals.... I can get it roaring again in 3-5 minutes..... Load it up in 20-30 minutes later, close the bypass and leave the bottom air control out an inch and let it run for the day. When I go to bed its 84 to 92 on 1st floor & 78 upstairs.... We sleep with window open....

A 6,300 sq foot house.

Bartender, bring me one of what he is drinking.

To answer your question, I would suggest the Royale based on owner comments over the years.

I have decided to go with the Cape Cod in our new construction. In my area the Lopi dealer has a great reputation and are very knowledgeable!
