Feeling the Heat

I have been burning wood for several years now. We keep at least 4-5 years ahead split and stacked. So wood is not the problem nor has it ever been. My question is --What stove wood you go with or do you like the one you have? We are going to replace our stove that we have now before next fall. We have the U.S Stove 2000 and the only thing we don't like is the low burn time. I like to have one that will get at least 8-12 hour burns or more and will have 2000.00+ to spend on a new one. I like to stay will the 6 inch chimney. No outdoor or indoor furnace. So what do you have and why , burn time and so on? I have read about just about every stove but I need to know from someone that uses the brand. Thanks in advance.

The BK will provide the longest burn time of the three mentioned. It will also be the most expensive. How large an area are you currently heating?

We have about 1500 size house and in the process of a total remodel from roof down.

There are a couple good $1000 stoves to consider: Englander 30NC and Drolet 2000HT. Next up in price would be a Regency 2400, Enviro Kodiak 1700. At the top of the pile would be a BK Sirocco30. The BK will provide 24 hr burns in milder weather and 12 hr burns during very cold spells. Another one to look at that is new, but getting good reviews is the Ideal Steel by Woodstock. This stove sells for about $2000 and is a cat hybrid. Folks are reporting nice long burn times with it. Woodstock stoves are sold direct.

Yeah am a BK convert so a Princess fits the bill. Can get 10hr from 1/2 a load.

The new Ideal Steel looks real Stella. Looking forward to the 'Ideal Steel 2014 - 2015' thread?

In addition to the great stoves already mentioned, take a long hard look at the Woodstock Soapstone Progress Hybrid. It's a beautiful piece of furniture and a great performer. Tons of gentle soapstone heat, long burn times, and top shelf craftsmanship. I love mine and would do it all over again in a heartbeat. And the Woodstock people are super nice to deal with.

Blaze King and Woodstock stoves I would say have the most overall high praise here. Overall more expensive then other stoves as well, but well worth it imo.

I will be going with one of these two brands for my next stove down the road some day.

your 6 inch chimney limits you to the blaze king princess in that line.

Wood stock: you could go with the progress hybrid soap stone or the Ideal steel stove.

I just ordered the PH will be ready end of December. IS in mid January as of Saturday when I was there.

IMHO between the 2 wood stock stoves we went with the PH for the side loader. The IS front loader with the fold down andirons looks like a breeze to load also. delivery time was or decision maker.

I see a fireview and a IS stove in the near future.

We have a 1500 sq. ft. Manufactured home, insulated fairly well. Heating it no problem with a Blaze King Princess Ultra. Have only had it 8 days and still amaized !!

You have several choices in the Blaze King line up. Every stove they make is a 6" flue with the exception being the King model which sports a 8" flue. The Chinook, Sirocco, Ashford and Princess models would all work with your current 6" flue. A few other models I've found to be solid burners are Osburn and Enerzone. All of the Osburn and Enerzone lineups have 6" flues.

We are one week into our Blaze King Princess and can't say enough good about it, pretty warm days 40s to 50s 30- at night 20 to 24 hour burn times. starting tonight it will drop down near single digits so we will see how she works through the cold.
