So after a few years of going back and forth and we are finally have the money to add a wood stove to our fireplace. The fireplace and Chimney were re-built when we bought the house and we have had a few fires but now we are looking for some heat. The only problem is that the fireplace is on the smaller side and with 3 kids running around it cant stick out to far into the living room. So we would like to have it as far into the fireplace as possible. What wood stoves would work with these dimensions. We are looking for something that can also give us heat in case we lose electricity, the info i read on fireplace insert say they work a lot better with a blower.

Welcome. That's a decent sized fireplace. Tell us more about the house and floorplan. How large an area do you want to heat?

Thanks. Our fireplace is in the living room which is closed off. We are really looking for something we can use when i get home from work and on the weekends to warm us up. Also as back up heat source for winter if we loose power, which we did last year multiple times. We dont have a lot of money but i dont want to buy anything dangerous and cheap.Nothing big and fancy, our next house will be heated primarly by wood, so this is a stepping up point and beginning to understand how to handle a wood fire.

That's a tough height for a stand-alone woodstove. You might be better off with an insert. I have a Lopi Answer, which is available in an insert as well. These are well-built stoves that are double-jacketed and are nice in insert installations.

Hearthstone Homestead would fit those dimensions as long as your hearth is big enough to fit the stove. It can be installed as a semi insert or freestanding. You really need to make it freestanding for the incresed heat.

I would install a small insert like an Enviro Kodiak 1200, PE Vista, Lopi Answer, etc..
