I'd like to thank stejus for posting the building of his woodshed:

https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/finally-i-have-a-wood-shed.100633/

I used his pictures to build my own woodshed. This find got me into the forum and I'm on my way to converting my 20 year old fireplace to a heat source for my home (I got more than I bargained for by finding this forum). Fireplace insert should be in soon.

I thought I'd add lumber list if anybody is interested....give a little back to all I've gotten from this site!!!!

Key Dimensions: 14' x 6' (outside posts). Overhang 12/12 pitch and sticks forward 2'. Rear wall 1.5' lower than from wall. 1' overhang on sidewalls and about a 1' on rear.

Nice looking shed. I've got to build a new one next year as the one that came with the house is on its last legs. I have a couple of questions. Roughly how many cords of wood do you think you'll fit in it. How deep did you go with the sonotubes? And with the BM paint, how many coats of paint did it need? Looks very tidy.

By volume 4.5 chords (6x14x7).

42" down.....two I could only get about 36".

The cedar was primed....I did two coats on the front and sides, one on the back. Just a little left over from a gallon.

Thank you! It was a fun project!

No, no, no...Thank you. That will hopefully, drive me to get up off my lazy *** and finally build a real woodshed. That material list will go a long way to get there.

David, thanks alot for posting this! I am very much a newbie when it comes to anything carpentry or woodworking related, and having a materials list to go off of will be very helpful. I'm in CT also up in Burlington, and am planning on starting a shed build in the spring.

You are very welcome...I've gotten so much help here. I've done some carpentry so it was not bad at all. I went nuts using cedar siding......you can save money on that part if you desire. People comment about lack of airflow, but I can feel a stream of air over and under the wood. Get your footings 42"deep.....
