I set the whole bag in the hopper then slice the bottom and lift the bag off the pellets so they don't stir up dust.

I like that idea except the prospect of another household construction project.:(

I made a wooden chest out of maple it will hold 7 bags use a 3quart feed scoop to fill the stove. This way you don't see pellet bags laying around,I can see what I'm putting in the stove, all the fines fall to the bottom.im not scraping up my finish or melting bags on stove, and the wife can fill it herself this way.works pretty well

I go from detached garage to stove in the kitchen and dump bag to hopper. I also keep my leftovers in a coal bucket/decanter/etc next to my stove. I like to treat my pellets like a fine wine, after all, they are keeping me warm...

It was worth the time makes things pretty easy here can stash about five days of pellets right beside the stove for someone else to fill

My “stash” is in the garage at basement level.

I bring 4-bags at a time up and dump them into a wooden chest in the same room as the stove.

I then use a feed scoop & plastic bowl to scoop from the chest into the hopper.

I’m in the process of building a pneumatic conveyor system to bring them up from the basement easier.

It’s in the “prototype” stage right now….I will post details here when it is operational.

Slice top, place on stove, open door, tip bag into large opening, lift bottom of bag and watch pellets disperse. If stove is running on high I keep bag from touching top front of stove where it's especially hot.

I have the same feed scoop as you did you get it at tractor supply

I'm in the "dump bag" segment of the pellet population. I burn way too many pellets to fuss with decanters and ornamental storage containers. It's fuel, not wine, after all.
What he said ........

I run a bag through my vacuum assisted pellet sifter into 2 lowes or HD pails, and keep one covered pail near the stove for refills .. my insert only hold a little less than a whole bag, but so far even in the coldest weather to date I only use about a bag a day ... I clean 2 or 3 bags at a time and have a stash of filled pails in the garage with the rest of the bagged stash. Gotta keep the pellets covered in the house, cat we adopted last Jan came from a shelter that uses pellets for litter (great idea really, cheaper than the cheapest Wally World litter and breaks down into sawdust) so to prevent him doing his business in the pail when no one is home ... covers lol

On standby.

Probably the most logical and hassle free way to cut down on dust....
Even when totally empty, my hopper wont take a full bag.

I also cut and dump the bag, I've never had a dust problem, I guess they're quality pellets.

Tear open top of bag, flop open end of bag into hopper, pull bag back of hopper while pellets fall from bag to hopper.

Slam lid, wad up bag, throw into garbage bin then brush hands together in clapping motion for job well done!

I bought 2 plastic buckets from Dollar General for 3 bucks each they hold almost half a bag each, dump bags in the garage to help with the dust bring in. Hard to do bag dumps directly into mine due to where it is at

open bag, pour into hopper.
Yup, Keeping it simple because my setup allows me too.

My leyden struggles to hold a bag and the opening is small. My father has a bigger Lopi. The whole top hinges back and holds 2 bags

I'm new to .pellets. Dragging a couple of five gallon pails of pellets 50 yards twice a day in wind, snow, and rain, could be considered exercise!

I built a box that holds about 56 bags and the vacuum system loads the boiler automatically. I'd also say that the lower in the box before slicing the bag, the better.

I'm in the process of installing a bag silo that holds 3 tons and that hopefully a truck can load up.

17 year old son . . . retrieve bag from shed, dump in hopper, leave empty bag on floor.
