Hey guys,

I was looking to purchase a pellet insert for my house, found this one online used for 1500, comes with 50 bags of pellets.

Cannot seam to figure out how much this "should" cost. I know it must be a pretty darn good deal already, but dont know about quality of the stove.

(For sale Lopi Yankee Bay wood pellet fireplace insert. Hopper capacity 48-89#, heating capacity 800-2250 sq.ft., BTU low- 13,940 high- 45,100, overall efficiency 82%. 50 40# bags of wood pellets included. Works perfect, switched to natural gas insert.)

No matter how good that quality is, if you can't get parts (and you will need parts at some point), it ain't worth squat.

Seems like a decent deal to me providing it is in good working order. Lopi had that stove around for years and still may.

Good point about parts. Lopi and Avalon (owned by Travis Industries) do NOT allow dealers to sell online. Look into parts availability first.

hello,
sounds like a reasonable deal. i would make sure you test the stove before you buy it if your new to pellet stoves like i was last year i didnt know what to look for, does the system work, are all motors working does the fire burn correctly and sty that way for 30 min test run atleast! the pellets are worth 250$ min as long as they are not too old or have any signs of moisture around them or bags! open the one at the bottom and check them out. parts are easily available for m0st Lopi stoves at several places. one of my favorite places is Mountain View Hearth Products http://www.stove-parts-unlimited.co...htm?searching=Y&sort=1&cat=387&show=12&page=8 prices are reasonable imho. make sure they have parts for the model you are looking at! also realize the stainless steel flue liner kit will cost you about 500$ with tax. you cant just vent them into the fireplace flue!

good luck

Oh and as always since its dec already offer him 1000.00 to start and come up to 1250.00 if he rejects it walk away he will stop you i bet! you can always call him the next day and offer a bit more. gotta learn to wheel and deal on these used things!! parts and unexpected service may happen right away and this hedges that possible cost for you! imho

one more thought anything older than 1996 is the old school Lopi/pioneer bay models. Might keep looking and find one from the later years like 2005 and above as technology has changed so much since then!Plus parts will be easier to find. The more a stove was used the more likely it will need more service just like a car!

Just found a local dealer near me within 30 miles that had the same parts for my LOPI (Pioneer Bay ) at a 40% discount over the online stores like Mountain View Hearth Products i mentioned above! always look for a dealer first!
