I am wanting/hoping to get a wood furnace at tax time and need info. I am going to put the furance in a small shed bc i do not have room in the manufactured house(2000 plus feet). I am planning to have the shed size between 6x6 to 8x8 not sure yet. The place will be at the end of house with a height of about 15 ft(house is). What i want will be something like a outside wood boiler. How high will the chimney need to be? So far the furnace will be a United States Stove Hot Furance new,have looked for used but can't find anything yet. A neighbor did this so i want to also. I can not do a outside boiler bc of the money $5000.00 to 8000.00 if not more.

Unfortunately, any of those outdoor forced air furnaces are very inefficient and will eat wood. To place an indoor woodfurnace in a building outdoors and pipe in the hot air will waste heat. I take it you don't have a basement? If if was me, I would consider a stove centrally located, before going to a forced outdoor woodfurnace. I've seen them installed around here and they belch smoke and eat piles of wood.
In the house we really have no room for a wood stove. I wish we did and also safely with it being a manufactured house. My neighbor's furance heats his house real nice

I could see it working well if the shed is attached to the house or only 3 feet from it. I would also look into insurance before going further with the project.

So what's your wood supply situation, how much wood do you expect to burn every year, and have you burned wood before?

Air is not near as efficient at moving heat as water. Most insurance want a outdoor unit 30 ' from the house. I don't Know what they would say about a duct work being attached between the two. potential for a lot of heat loss in that 30'. Good luck
