I had to return a carload of bags to a big box store due to solid masses in 2 of the bags. Actually both local HD stores keep the plastic covering over their pallets if kept outside, once opened the pallets are put under the protective roof area.

Once sold, they become the property of the buyer. It is their job to ensure they are stored properly. HD is doing them a favor by allowing them to use space on their property as temporary storage. They opened the pallet to take a few bags so it is their responsibility to ensure they are covered properly.

I learned my lesson going to Lowes for the first time for pellets a month ago. I knew they were running low so I asked first if they had a full pallet. Gal went to the back, came back and said yeah they did. So paid and pulled my truck around. Took em a good 15 minutes to show up (turns out they were stacking up a pallet from loose bags out on the floor). And I had planned to let this sit out on the driveway. Guess I need to ask next time if they have a full untouched unopened sealed pallet of bags. The young gal driving the forklift couldnt get them all the way on to the trailer either so we ended up breaking the pallet down in my trailer. She even broke a bag with it. I specifically drove the F350 and trailer just so I could haul a full pallet and leave outside at home. <>

Clean the snow off they will be fine assuming they aren't puffed up.. But the snow needs to get off before a thaw hits and then they sit and soak.. I had a cover blow off in the rain, unlike people think it's not instant destruction, you just can't let them sit and soak in it. At least that's my experience. Last winter I mistakenly left 5 bags of Okanagan's out in a snow storm that turned to rain by morning. I thought that's it for those. But they were fine. I just moved them inside.

We had a very wet heavy snow here. Also sleet and a few hours of rain. There done no question

Water drains right down through the center of the stack destroying every bag.
Well all I can say is in my experience this is not instant doom. I've lived it and it just is not the case. Hey they may be ruined but I'd have to inspect them to determine that. My own were not, that I can say for certain. . Someone needs to get that snow off of them. But from the photo none look puffed up yet.
