TSC pellets?

Why is it so crazy on the east coast?? I was born in nj and I don't get why everyone fights over pellets and their is a shortage over on the east always? I would think it would be fairly easy to get wood also so that should slow the shortage some I'd hope

Have never seen them around here. Would try them if I could find some, I like testing different brands of pellets.
I'm only sitting on 2+ tons of pellets and I can go shop at my local stores and find a ton or two pretty easy... It might not be top notch but it will still get me thru

About the same here, there is pellets out there, might not be what you want or prefer to burn, but there out there at different locations. Set's are one of my favorite brands, I was lucky to come across them. I was only setting on 1 ton of set's and about 10 bags of hamer's. I was holding out buying, hoping to hit something good. So when I stumbled on to these set's, I just pulled the trigger on 2 tons. This should get me thru the season.
Good luck titan- that's whats being stubborn and holding out does it usually pays off and it did for you... Congrats.. Hopefully one day I can try these Somerset's and see what all the hype is about

All I've seen are ProPellets, WD soft wood, Indek Energy, and Michigan Wood Fuel. Maybe I should try branching out a little more. There was a guy further north selling cherry pits for $150 a ton on craigslist. Unfortunately after the drive it wouldn't have been much cheaper than local wood pellets.

Dang, I haven't had any clinkers. I do have an agitator in my burn pot though, that probably helps. ProPellets are making the best heat for me. Less ash than the other hardwood pellets I've tried, but quite a bit more than the soft woods. Amount of fines seems about average. The only real complaint I have is their pellet size is a little inconsistent. Most of them are just about right but there are some big honkers floating around in each bag. I hear the auger grown every once in a while, but it hasn't caused any problems. I'm not sure how big their distribution area is, but they are out of White Pigeon.

While wife and daughter at girls scouts today making cookies for trucker's, daddy goes out running around. On way home, daddy can't stay out of any TSC store he passes. If you ask my 6 year old daughter what's daddy's favorite store is, she will tell you TSC. Well I go in, looky there, somerset pellets, well daddy comes home with another ton. Now 4 ton of somerset's and 10 bags of hamer's in garage. Guess I'm starting on next years supply.
Jealous of you. Did they have them out front or inside? I usually go by 2-3 tsc stores and all I can find are lignetics usually or another pellet brand that just says premium on them in white bag and sometimes olympus

Last year I settled on Lignetics. Good price, good burn. Low ash, plentiful, local supply. If I stumble on some branded pellets somewhere I'll give them an experimental shot but my pellet experience at Big Box stores makes me run screaming. It's like they're doing you a favor selling to you, supply and quality are iffy and price isn't that great. Got tired of the dance.
Maybe I am confused on what a clinker really is? When I pull my cleaning rod everyday I always have something that falls into the ash pan. Most of the time it is a small biscuit. Some brands of pellets the biscuit is bigger and sometimes it just falls apart and crumbles. Other times you have to poke it pretty hard with my cleaning tool to brake it apart.
I still have not seen anything hard as glass or rocks come out of the burn pot.

Techinically you only get 'clinkers' with corn or a corn pellet mix, not pellets only.
The clinker is the remains of the carmelized and combusted kernels that collect in the bottom of the burn pot and it's not a hard. stone like mass but more of a porus mass that crumbles easily.
Dedicated corn only stoves and biolers usually have a round pot and vertical stirrer arrangement that 'agitates' the corn upward and the roasted remains spill over the top and fall down into the ash pan.
On a multi fuel appliance, usually the burn pot is stationary with an agitator/stirrer so the 'clinker' gets broken apart. Some gets through the bottom of the pot to the ash drawer and some has to be manually removed.
Typically, clinker pots and nultifuel pots that can combust corn will have larger holes that a pellet pot. A corn or true multifuel pot burining corn needs to have more air flow as corn requires more oxygen to burn properly.
The alternative to that is a dedicated. specialized 'clinker pot' that actually collects the clinker in the bottom and has to be manually removed daily or every few days, depending on how much corn you are burning. No manufacturers off 'clinker' pots because they are for corn only, not multiple fuels. Removing the clinker is a simple matter by lifting it out, quickly scraping off the burning kernels into the pot and closing the door, about a 15 second task.
If you get 'clinkers' with wood pellet fuel, your a/f ratio is wrong, you have poor quality pellets or there is something wrong with the unit. Clinkers and pellets aren't the norm.

When I pulled in parking lot and headed for front door, they had an open ton of Somerset's setting out side the front doors. I walked in and ask them if they had any full tons of Somerset's, there response was we do. They said they had a 1 ton limit per day, I said ok, I would like to buy a ton, they rang me up and told me to pull around back to outside gate. So I pulled around back, they opened back outside gated fenced in area under roof, I backed in and a employee brought me a ton set's on a fork lift, loaded it in back of truck and I was on my way. I counted the tons of set's they had there yet, they had 8 more ton setting there. This was at there Shippensburg location.

What you need to do is take the wife and you buy a ton and have the wife buy another ton.......lol
I have never used them or seen them in my area. I think I have seen a few post where people say they like them. I would do a search on the forum for that brand. Also buy 2 or 3 bags to try before getting ton's .

They are a good Hot pellets with less Ash than the Energex hardwoods I burn and LOT LESS ash than the HD Stove chows.. basically lot less ash than anything u get at big box stores.
Ash is a mix of black and light gray...
that said, they tend to be all over the place is size but really not a problem since they break up easy....specially if u have a .Harman auger system.
I would deffinitly grab a ton....

Gambled on the Indeck at the local big box this fall for $189/ton. Slightly ashy but burning really well. Low saw dust. They put Marth premium hard wood on sale last week and I bought 10 bags to try. Really crappy. Very dirty and lots of saw dust.

Indecks are not a bad pellet, yes i agree on the ash, they are darker then other brands ive tried. menards were completely sold out of these and some expensive marth softwood pellets yesterday, but home depot was stocked up with indecks
