Christmas Tree Placement

Most pellet stoves require only 3" clearance to combustibles. As long as the stove stays at least 3" away, you should be fine.

That poor tree is going to dry out very very fast. Treat accordingly. Nothing sadder than a before X-mas fire.

I put mine along side of it but with the old wood stove I grabbed one of thoes $300 fake ones still using it... Not as nice as the real thing though.. I think you could be ok just get a balsm fur they don't shead as bad and hold the moisture better

Could place a piece of wood-plywood or the like against a chair by the tree to help shield the tree from heat when not enjoying it.

I wouldn't put it there, not with pets in the house. Better safe than burned house. Thats just me.

Already thought of that you can't see it but there is a piece of fishing line tied from the top of the tree to a small nail in the wall... Did that with the wood stove last year plus when we're not home the animals are in a crate

I stand corrected.

After a couple seasons with a real tree, we realized that no matter how much we kept it watered, the heat from the stove sucked the life out of it.

Created a huge mess since it dried to a crisp.

We went back to fake.

Our fake tree is in another room. My wife uses some kind of green stick looking thing that hangs on the tree and makes it smell like the real thing. When friends come over they think we have a real tree until they see it.

Ever seen a dry conifer burn? They go like a torch. because the pitch in the branches and needles isn't dried out, it's a flammable gummy substance. I'd opt for a fake tree or put in another room, away from any heat source. One spark and your house is gone.....

Besides, in our house, the cats would whizz it to an early death............

Not on thread but my wife has a kitten that loves toilet paper and can unroll a whole roll from the bathroom to the kitchen.... problem is, it can't roll it back up.

How about putting the tree in front of the stove ??? It would diffently light the thing up without the lights

My wife lights one of those pine smelling candles.

I like the idea of a fake tree and a pine scented car stinker myself.......

Deck the halls with rubber balls.....

They make some very nice fakes. Thinking of making a tree out of ice in the front yard. MN just had the 11th coolest November in recorded history and they are driving on the lakes to fish around here. 10 below this AM but its sunny

i feel ya fake trees are so so.. they are too perfect, even the really expense ones, its a perfect triangle.. but it is nice not worrying about the tree, or the mess when you walk by it and half the needles fall off cause its so damn dry haha

Thinking of a Charlie Brown Christmas? Or maybe a Griswold tree? I get a Norfolk pine and try and keep alive till spring.

Shoot -- there goes my excuse: "They said I cannot have a tree in the house if we burn pellets, so no more Christmas trees".

Ours is a fake; entire living room is knotty pine planks, too dark and a green tree wouldn't show up well against the walls, so we have a white tree, not as uggo as you might think. Probably 15' from the stove. But I'd throw it in the dumpster and never look back -- if I could. But my wife likes Christmas.

We bought a fake tree for our photo studio a few years ago. It looks so real many people were asking us where we bought our tree from this year/that year, thinking it's real. And they make them even more real looking than this one is. We have since moved it to the living room. It is a 9 ft tree, beautiful. My wife misses the scent but since I am allergic to the scent I love the tree, even can enjoy the tree. And I don't think about a spark from the stove or shorted light set or what ever sending it whooof. Yes I have seen video of a tree going up in a living room ( safety meetings at work, I was on the safety committee for 6 years) and how fast it caught the whole house. I don't recall the BTU's off hand but it was high. It's almost as if doused in gasoline. No thanks, not in the stove room.
