Burning Hunk

I get a couple of these opportunities a week, at least. Been turning my nose up, thinking I had all this cordwood that was going to be rolling in. Yeah, right. Out of around 8 prospects, all of whom sounded like they'd love to dump their tons and tons of high grade hardwood at my place, not one has come through. This was a pallet that carried heavy machinery onto a job sight. It's about 2-3 days worth of kiln dried southern yellow pine. Many of these are built from white oak. From now on, I'm takin' all I can get.

EDIT-Forgot to add, this is about half of the pallet. The rest is still at work. This is all I could fit in the trunk. ;-)

Sometimes I offer pennies on the dollar for culled lumber at HD. Cuts up easy, burns fine.

I have burnt a lot of pallets in my day. Good stuff but it does burn hot , just watch it. The loads of wood will come your way. Put another plug in a couple and if they bring you wood take care of them and they will take care of you. Example tree guys cut a big soft maple by me and I asked them for all but the trunk and I got it all plus they brought me a pickup load of cherry and about 20 med. rounds of sweet gum. In turn I bought them dinner and a couple drinks after work.

That's a stack that's not gonna shrink and fall over. If it falls over, somebody (either two-legged or four-legged) had something to do with it.
