Hi, we just had a regency wood insert installed in our living room by what I thought was a well known company with a good name. The first attempt of them installing, one of the guys was yelling that he "just wants to be done with this" - so my radar went up. After they left and assured me it was ready for inspection and burning, I noticed they dinged up/chipped bricks on my hearth, the insert was visibly off center, a portion of the gasket was coming out -could stick my finger threw it, there were big noticeable scratches in the black finish and a few other. Then as I was taking pictures and measurement to show the store , the front of this thing fell off! They sent a new crew out to fix the problems, it looks great, but we noticed that it is sitting on 2 uneven piles of quarters (coins). They assure me this is safe and probably just done to level things out. But I need some other opinions, considering the last time they said it was safe the thing fall apart. Does anyone know if this is common practice?

If the stove is on an uneven surface it is normal to shim the gap to level the stove. Quarters will work as will metal washers or a small steel plate.

Quarters should work fine but I would replace them with nickels and put the quarters in my pocket
Ditto. Unconventional for sure but should work just fine. Better than a wobbly stove!

I would probably be thinking the same thing, but not yelling it. After that, and the other issues mentioned, I would be checking the entire install.
