I'm not too fussy... I just throw the slice of bread right on the stove top. Sometimes I even clean the tiny bits of wood, dust and ash off the stove top first, but more often than not I go for the extra fiber.

Speaking of fibers, I was reading about the history of toilet paper yesterday. In 1941 Consumers Report was happy to report that toilet paper finally was available without splinters.
