Is anyone receiving txt messages based on their stoves CAT temperature? I'd planning to setup a system to notify me via SMS when the CAT temp drops below 500F. I'm currently planning to use the following devices to achieve this:

Smartthings hub
Omega DP461
Monoprice Z-wave door and window sensor
ifttt.com

I'm wondering if anyone else is doing something similar.
Thanks.

I have sent requests to 2 suppliers (Acurite being one) asking if they could add a temperature probe for a wood stove to be part of their existing system. Your solution seems very pricey.

A few companies sell systems that are quite inexpensive but are missing one element. I think it would be a big hit but what do I know? From what I read here, there are not a lot of us that have remote probes installed. We've had more than a few occasions that we have had to return home while on our way somewhere because we typically load the stove, turn the air up, then turn it down as we're headed out the down. Then while driving, you start to question whether the air was turned down or not. A quick glance at a smart phone would be AWESOME. ;ex

Yes, my phone just texted me. I read you post yesterday and decided to see if i could get the text notification on alarm function working in my Omega data logger.

I have a OM-CP-RFTC 400A transmitter and a OM-CP101A receiver. These are older obsolete models that work with Windows XP.

It took some time to find a SMS gateway for my provider and get all the email settings to work, but I just got it working now.

I can set a high and/or low alarm for stove top and a high or/low alarm for ambient temp. The software will send a text notification to my phone on alarm.

Nice job Wes! My SMS CAT temp notification project is complete and I'm quite pleased with the results. The benefits have been the ability to load the stove while the CAT is still active which helps me to avoid long bypass times. It also time stamps the duration that a load of wood keeps the CAT active which helps me evaluate the quality of my wood supply. An added benefit is that if provides me with a digital read out of the CAT temp which helps me understand how my stove is operating. All in all I feel it was a good investment. For others interested here is what you will need:

Smartthings hub - $99 (amazon)
z-wave door and windows sensor - $24.88 (monoprice)
temperature controller - $20 (ebay)
K Type 50x5mm 0-800 Degree Celsius Thermocouple Probe Sensors 3 Meters Long - $5 (ebay)

In the future I'd like to find a way to receive real time stove temps on my iOS device. At the moment I'm achieving this by pointing a cheap network camera at my temp controller and viewing the display through a camera viewing app. I'm sure there are some better ways out there but not sure certain if there are any affordable ones. I noticed some of the teams in the wood stove decathlon monitoring temps on tablets. I would like to know what they are using. If any of you have some ideas I'd love to hear them.

Thanks.
