Ok, this is my first year with the new Accentra 52i. I'm burning Hamers Hot Ones and Barefoots. I got the barefoots based on feedback that they are one of the best pellets for the money. I'm noticing the barefoots burn noticeably dirtier than than the Hamers. I have to wipe the soot off the glass several times a day. I'm seeing much more ash too than when burning Hamers. Not what I expected from Barefoots. Anyone else having problems with barefoots this season?

Where are you getting them and the Hammers in our area? Burning Lignetics now but I'd like to get a bag or two to try.

I picked them up Forest Inn Masonry Supply. They are sold out of them now.

I bought Barefoots last year in Bangor and they were great. Don't have any this year.

Barefoots burn clean for me. The ash is much finer which may cause the glass issue.

I live about 7 miles from the facility that produces Barefoot Pellets, so i buy them directly from their office. 75% of the pellets i burn are Barefoots. I have not noticed any sort of a quality drop off at all this year. They are still the best performing pellet I have come across.

These are all two of my friends burn. While waiting for my pellet delivery, I decided to try 10 bags of Barefoot. They produced quite a bit of ash and sooted up the glass badly.

I burned a half ton of Cleanfire Pacifics and have now been using the Barefoots that I have 2 tons of.
I am finding the Barefoots to be very ashy compared to the Cleanfire.

If you don't want them, send them to me. My USSC will devour them no issue.

Now that I'm burning through Hamers more consistently, I'm noticing a much cleaner glass. I might have to wipe my glass every 3 days whereas I had to wipe the glass at least once (sometimes twice) a day burning the Barefoots. Barefoots seemed to burn a hair hotter, but nothing that would make me stick with them over the Hamers at this point.

I'll take some too! Our tractors burn any damned thing.

What are you wiping the hot glass with exactly?

I never wipe the glass when it's hot. I at least allow it to cool to the point the blower is off and the glass is lightly warm to the touch. When I wipe it, I usually use a clean rag with glass stove-top cleaner to get the soot off.

Ohhh, OK. I don't shut down daily and just assumed you were wiping it hot. LOL, sorry.

When we get into these cold spells where it will run all day long I don't get a chance to get in there and wipe it. The glass then gets really ugly until I can get in there on a cool down. I'm noticing now with the Hamers burning all day long I can go a few days before I need a courtesy wipe. Must be the finer dust in the Barefoots. I don't know if it's a softer wood either. The pellets are far more blonde in appearance than the hamers.

You can usually tell by the smell. Especially the warmer ones already in the hopper.
