I'm finally going over the second Elena (WH stamp 2008) and took a closer look at the wiring. According to the wiring diagram, the first wiring block on the mother board should have wires brown, blue, blue (9), black(10), blue (11), black (12).

Wires 9 & 10 are connected to the exhaust fan, however, the 9 wire is black and 10 is blue. Instead of the factory connection block, there is a marr connector connecting the black wire off the fan, the blue wire off the capacitor, and the black 9 wire off the board (that the wiring diagram states is blue 9). The blue wire off the fan goes directly to the board at position 10. According to the wiring diagram, blue off the fan should connect to black 10. However, it seems that the connections are appropriate just vary in colour from the printed diagram...

The more troubling one for me is the room fan. The wiring off the capacitor is appropriate with brown connecting to white, black spliced to white and connecting to black (11) from the board. Blue connecting to blue (12) from the board. These wires appear to be reversed in order to the mother board as blue is supposed to be wire 11 and black is supposed to be wire 12. They do appear to be intact from original though. Problem?

Is it working?

Saw it running when we first purchased it last spring but didn't really put it through its paces (was just on level 1). Screwed up a bit in that it was in the yard boxed and tarped all summer. I had changed out many of the screws/bolts for stainless and cleaned up firebox, exhaust pathways. Duct taped the intake/exhaust and put desiccant in firebox. Tarp came off at one point and didn't realize water got in ... water pooled a bit by the auger:( All seems good otherwise.

I have pulled the auger and brushed it up, cleaned up auger flight. Debating on repaint ... Started tracking the wiring after I vacuumed the spider webs out==c The marr connector was the warning someone had been in rooting around so thought I should check. May have to get help getting it outside on the deck again and fire her up just to check out the room blower.

Tempted to shut down the Elena air to check the motherboard/wiring to see is there was a change in wiring from diagram - getting close to the "magic" 1000 hrs!

Any idea how wires are secured in the green wiring blocks on motherboard? Small slotted screws on the white connectors... No one with electrical training handy so not sure if flow of electricity to/from motor and subsequent position of capacitor will compromise function or longevity of motor...

Bob Bare has good knowledge of Pabst motors but I see he has not been around for awhile. Could try and PM him.

I recently bought a used Laura
Yes, wires are secured to the green blocks with small slotted screws.

Regarding your wiring question I guess I am not sure why you are going over the wiring since it is a new unit correct? Do you suspect it was wired wrong in the factory?

Is the unit not working correctly?

It is a used unit - just not sure how "used";) When Northland Distributing filed bankruptcy, many units were up for auction. I purchased this Elena from a gentleman near Virginia, MN who purchased both a wood burning unit and this Elena from? The components were pretty clean and this gentleman only had 150 hours on it. He had a more simple stove in his family room and had no clue how this one functioned ... not sure if it was burned over 1 at his house.

Test fired there and everything appeared to be functional but hasn't been installed in the house as yet. Big sister Elena Air is still doing her job in the living room:)

When cleaning before bringing inside, noticed marr connector on exhaust fan (in place of factory connector) which prompted the review of wiring. Wires to motherboard are reversed on the room blower ... the capacitor is now in the wrong position per the wiring diagram.

Got it! I guess since you have a second Elena, I would do a A,B comparison between the two to resolve the differences. Assuming your original Elena is correct.
If you don't have easy access to your original Elena, I have access to the back of my Laura and can take pictures of the Motor wiring if you need it, I suspect they are the same between the Laura and Elena.

Let me know.

Heres a couple shots of the wiring on our Elena exhaust fan

Will probably strip the Elena Air today as weather is supposed to be decent ... ceramics are great looking just a pain to strip down:( Was hoping to get the second Elena out of the entryway before cleaning big sis...

And the plates are fragile. They should have bonded on something on the backs to make them a little more resistant to cracking and breaking.

Thanks Bioburner ... looks like the colours are reversed on board when compared to printed wiring diagram. Room blower wires in same position as yours. Where the marr connector is - black (from exhaust blower) and blue wire (from capacitor) are connected with a black wire that goes to the motherboard block. On yours it looks like both these wires are connected directly to the block at position 9. Blue from exhaust blower at position 10. All good:)

Good to know plates are fragile ... may leave everything alone;)
