Wife's GF found a one-day-old Tuxedo kitten in her pasture. Brought it to her. Raised it on an eye dropper. Used to carry it around in our sweatshirts. Slept in our bookcase headboard. Had a GSD rescue. Dog went over and picked it up. Thought it was the end but all he did was carry it around in his mouth. To the day that cat died at 10 the dog would groom the cat. Cat would sit there looking disgusted, all covered with dog spit.
I know the disgusted look. We had this cat named Jack. When the boys ( our two sons) were in their teens I used to take them on fly fishing trips up to Moosehead Lake and the rivers of Northern Maine ( great times, lots of fish etc but another story). Jack just about lived in my lap back home, he didn't like me leaving the house.. Upon returning from these week long trips Jack would walk in the room and look at me in total disgust , then turn his back to me and just sit on the floor near me but facing away. That would last about two days, I could talk to him and he would flip his ears back but not leave that position. He sat there defiantly. This went on for years like this, where he would do this for a couple of days before jumping back on my lap. Finally he got used to it and by days end he would jump on my lap. But we lost him at about his 18th year , he got old and sick. Great cat though, liked Chili, the hotter the better ! He would smell chili cooking and come around bugging you till he got a sizable amount , in cat quantities anyway, in his own bowl or dish . Hey the cat liked it, what can I say.

I discovered after getting all our pets that I'm allergic to them all. Its for that reason they are not allowed on furniture or even in the bedroom.
I'm allergic to white pine pellets just the same as I'm allergic to white pine pollen in the spring /early summer. Too bad, they burn great !! But the latest and greatest was not just itchy eyes and stuff but I broke out like I do with the pollen.

Our Pastor's sister in law is highly allergic to cats. We were told her allergy is pretty severe so when she was visiting them in the summer we moved our bible study to his house instead of here ( she wanted to attend).. Our cats are all over everything here, no go.

I like to think of it as a flaming middle finger to the oil / propane / electric companies.

Our stove puts out alot of radiant heat, far too much for anything sit up top.

Hmmm, surprised our cats have not discovered the hopper lid yet. Obviously on a P series ( P 43-p68) they aren't getting on the stove top itself !!

Brought a Mom and her 5 week-old kittens to our house when we had a lab and newfie. The newf was overly protective of his house (killed a gopher that was in the yard near his kids) but when we brought the kittens home he became "Dad". He would nuzzle and lick them, lay down near them so they could cuddle. We kept two and that continued along with him tolerating the running swipe when they were playful.

Can you imagine the drool from a newfie ...

Unfortunately my old dog Prince did not make it long enough to see the pellet stove upstairs in action. Too bad, he would have loved it as he loved snuggling up to the woodstove at my previous abode. He had a plate in one of his front legs (met a car going at a high rate of speed when he was with his previous owner) and it hurt from the cold - he would cook his brains while warming up laying about 2" from the woodstove - and panting - LOL

The cats don't seem to care. One has really long hair and was feral for 6 years before he consented to being touched or pet. He is now very much an indoor cat, but has plenty of fur coat. My other cat, Tory, has never been one to snuggle up to warm things (except me).

Here's our pellet pet. 2yr old chihuahua "Lucy" short for LUCIFER!! lol she's a nut! Here you can see she busted me snapping here picture for this thread. Im not much of a "little dog" kinda person but she's actually pretty cool. Listens to me better than anyone here so thats a plus. lol

As you can see, today was "Rainy day Ciesta" for alot of us. both of the ladies pictured stayed nice and warm in front of the stove..notice the warm radiant glow coming from the right of them..haha.

Does a pellet basket in the wood stove qualify?
