I am getting this loud grinding noise on my Harman P38. Seems to be coming from the auger? This is a 2008 model. Most likely cause?

How long have you noticed the noise

Started last night. Stove was turned off. This morning I sprayed the auger motor with pbblaster and now it's quieter but doesn't sound normal. Any ideas?

Motor bearings?

If lubricating the motor quieted the problem could be possible bad motor. Is every thing operating fine though the noise is there

I would order a new feed motor Monday morning. Six year old unit? Wouldn't hurt to have other spare parts on hand either, such as igniter, and blower fans, although the fan motors would generally give you some notice before failure and you could always do a manual start should the igniter crap out. A bad vacuum switch, bad control board, bad feed motor, or a bad esp probe are all show stoppers. You should also have a spare fuse for the board on hand. But at six years, s** t happens!

Could be the auger has some build up of carbon on the end. Get in there with a 1/4 flat blade screwdriver and see if you can scrape out something. Amazing how sound will travel around machines or how we perceive it does.

Been running the stove since 12 and it's been sounding better. What bearings are you talking about?

Well if you oiled it and it's got all lubed up know quiet so probly bad bearings in the motor if it gets loud again you can replace the bearings or hole motor and fix that one for a spare
