Woke up at 4:30 this morning Quad not running

So i woke up at 4:30 this morning to my quad not running, call light on and yes the hopper was full. I emptied the hopper, put a mirror in the feed shoot and turned up the therm. Auger was working fine, loaded some pellets and it fired right back up.

The only thing different last night was that i had closed the feed get some to set the flame like the book says to. I guess some longer pellets must have gotten stuck. So now I have it open a little more to where it was before.

Glad nothing was wrong! And glad I had my other heat set a few degrees lower as a backup.
 
Always pays to have a backup, no matter what the situation. Depending on year of your stove, I am surprised the auger ran with the hopper lid open, and even more curious as to how it ran with the hopper empty. Vac switch should of shut down power to auger with no vacuum. Are you sure the fire just didn't start due to too many ashes in pot, or a misfire? Could also be what you are saying if it keeps going. Just a thought. kap
 
Depending on the model of Quad, the lid does not have to be closed.

Our 1000 will work fine with the lid open (no switch/seaL or anything to prevent it

Check the pot to be sure you don't have a clinker near the igniter hole
 
Around 2009 ish, they started putting hopper lids in all the Quad stoves. Your stove as well as mine, are old enough they don't have the switch. That is why I said depending on the year. kap
 
Stove is a 2013 cb1200.. It does not run with the lid open, I placed the mirror on the bottom of the shoot inside the firebox and closed the stove door and hooper lid and used a flash light through the glass door to see if the auger was working. Stove was pretty much clean at the time.
 
May be as you said then, too long of pellets. Stay warm. kap

I have the same stove....you closed the gate and that is the prob...you didn't have enough pellets in the first 55 sec of running to heat up the thermo coupl to get to the green light to come on...open the gate and all will be fine....also, when making any adjustments do an off and back on cycle to see if your efforts worked....
 
The stove had been running all day and shut off at 12:30 am on it's own.

It was the first and only time it happened.
