My buddy bought a new stove and he wants to sell it is old Breckwell P2700FSA
. I am thinking about picking it up for my basement. This would be my first breckwell and know nothing about them. I'm a quad guy.
What is even one thoughts?
Thanks
Mike

I think you'll like it. If you can get it for a descent price. I have had the Vermont for about 10 years now. Replaced combustion and convection blower once. Still running original igniter, auger, and switches. Runs 24/7 all winter. All the Breckwells I have looked at are pretty much the same inside. They are simple ,couple fans a couple snap discs an auger motor and a control board that's it. Will roast you out of basement.......

I forgot to add. That I would never recommend buying a Breckwell brand new to anyone. The company was bought buy someone else and the new owners will not honor the 30% discount off OEM parts to all off the original owners who purchased their stoves before the sale of the company. I guess legally all a company has to do now days is change owners and then all the
Prior warranties are void. Guess I am just old fashioned "A deals a Deal"

I'm on my 2nd Breckwell (sold the house) and have used a quad for a couple of weeks. Ultimately the breckwell can run on less pellets (low - 1lb very 1.7lb /hour) and has the ability to control the draft so it is much easier to get the "right burn" in any installation.
I think the quads longer heat exchanger may have been slightly more efficient.
As the previous poster said.. They are very simple.. Easy to work on..
You can definitely see where the newer stoves have been made "cheaper" than the older breckwell.

Thanks for all the info. It looks like it was made in 1998 What would say was a reasonable price? he is asking $400
Thanks
Mike

Not sure , but check to see if it has an ignitor and thermostat hookup.. I am think that it may be prior to those features.. If it does.. It's a steal..

Thanks everyone. Any one have any more info on this stove? My concern is the age it looks like it was made in 1998. My other concern is that I cant seem to find parts and cant seem to find much info on this site about them. Can anyone else chime in?

Hello
All parts are still available.
I updated one by changing the OEM Hollow core brass cowell rods to Solid stainless steel rods and painting the brass door trim and the stove Satin Black. The stove looks new and works better than the new stove because it is heavier built!

No pics of the P2700 I fixed up but here is the old P2000 I redid so you can get a good idea!

Thanks don.
But what about the age of the machine? We are talking 16 years old. How long do the fireboxes last?

If not in a damp place that causes rusting, they can last a very, very long time!
