I saw 8ft sheets of this at Home Depot yesterday. They seem like they would be better than tarps and last a lot longer. Just keep them weighted down. Does anybody use these to top cover their piles?

A good wind will launch them easily...I would not go that route unless the panel was incorporated into a sound structure....

I guess if you leveled off the pile and did not have to access to wood, and weighed it down with your blocks it would be OK...It would be easier to pull wood that is tarped....

These wood be for wood not needed this year so no need to get at wood.

I would overdo the weight on top, I've been surprised at some of the things the wind has blown off my tarps, Ive put a couple hundred pounds of wood on top and the wind has sent it all sailing.

When I built my wood shed, I looked into them. They do not fare well in the cold with impacts over the years. My woodshed is in the woods and it will get some large sticks falling on it when cold and I wanted to make sure it would not crack.

For almost the same price per sqft, I went with the metal roofing. Plus, i didn't want to see through the wood shed.

True on this one. I have a few of these I got free from a friend who took down a greenhouse. There's a lot of surface area, so even with significant weight on them, a gust to 30+ and I'm retrieving a panel (or two) from my neighbors yard. They look nicer than tarps though.

Would not use the lexan crap unless it was free. I built a shed with the stuff as a roof, granted it is still there but the roof will shatter now with a slight impact due to age and UV exposure. See if you can find a roofing company with pieces of rubber roofing, or old corrugated metal roof. Also, lumber is wrapped in a tyvek cover, those work for firewood coverage and you can turn them inside out to not see the logo.

I bought a bunch this summer, when my local HD had 12'ers on sale for $5. I've been using them, but as many have suggested, they're tough to keep in place. I have been constantly replacing them each wind event we get. Still having more luck than I did with thin plastic sheeting or tarps, but they're not ideal. I certainly wouldn't purchase them for this purpose at full price.

I have some cutup used greenhouse panels and some opaque fiberglass panels from a lean-to roof . I just put heavy pallets on top of them to weight them down and this has been working rather well.

Until you want to start taking out some wood and the support under them is gone. Then I use a tarp.

Go Metal. You can also screw them into the top layer , especially if you get used pieces of CL that have a few holes already
